Sarevok bug?

Post by Hamhead8 »

I have completed BGII:SOA for the first time and moved on to TOB. It takes me to the first battle with Illasera and after that to the pocket plane where you first meet the ghost of Sarevok.

The problem is that all he says is "So you have finally arrived. I have been waiting for you." with no conversation options. I cannot leave the plane or do any of the tasks.

My party consists of my fighter/thief, Keldorn, Valygar, Imoen, Jaheira & Aerie (the love interest). I have found that by dismissing Imoen and Jaheira from the party the conversation options appear the next time I speak to Sarevok. I think it is something to do with them being "original" characters and they are supposed to say or do something when they see Sarevok. I think I have all the up to date patches installed.

Can anybody tell me how to get Sarevok to speak to me with my full party? If not, can I find Jaheira and Imoen later on after dismissing them or are they gone for good?

For what little it's worth, have you tried clearing out all files from your game's cache subdirectory and its subdirectories?

Sounds like an unpatched game to me.

There's only one official patch for Throne of Bhaal. If you're installing from scratch, you should install Shadows of Amn, then Throne of Bhaal, then the official Throne of Bhaal patch. (There's no need, for example, to install a Shadows of Amn patch if you install Throne of Bhaal, which updates Shadows of Amn automatically.)

jcompton might have correctly identified your problem. The official Throne of Bhaal patch specifically does the following: "Fixes the multiplayer bug where Sarevok keeps repeating his first line of dialogue after the player makes the in-game transition from Shadows of Amn to Throne of Bhaal." (I copied that directly from Bioware's support site.)

You can find more information about the patch at: http://www.bioware.com/games/throne_bha ... t/patches/

Good luck!

No joy. I've cleared the cache and I installed the TOB patch again and it makes no difference, maybe it doesn't work for saved games. I tried importing saved games from ages back and they don't work either. Starting a new TOB game works fine. Talk about frustrating!

I'll just have to chuck Imoen and Jaheira out in the meantime - where can I find them later?

Try keeping your savegame, uninstalling, then dropping your savegame in the appropriate directory; reload.

All of the NPCs from Shadows of Amn except for Yoshimo can be "found" in your Pocket Plane. All you have to do is click on a portal and summon them. They won't be exactly the same as they were before (they're created from different CRE files), but you'll still recognize them.

Success! Fable's suggestion worked and everything seems to be back to normal.

Thanks everyone.

YES! Another victory for the wisdom of those who are ancient, gnarled, and feeble, everywhere! Pardon me while I gloat and gnash my gums in private. ;)
