Deafeating the Tanar'ri *spoilers i guess*

Post by keeB »

Well, it came time once again in my travels to come accross the tanr'ri in my humble planar sphere quest.

Some of you may recall, last time i had problems with this demon, because i took the planar sphere quest as my second (only after completing the slavers quest.)

This time i played a Wizard Slayer, and i tell you.. not being able to use potions is pretty damn hard.

I am happy to anounce, however, that this time i defeated the Tanar'ri with no problems, with a simple strategy.

- Ring of Ram x2 (i pickpocketed tolgarias then killed him and got another, Thanks User!, from Yoshi and Val)

- Minor Sequencer ( Doom x2 with Aerie )

- Minsc (Doom, and also holding Sword of Chaos+2)

- PC (Horror, holding the Lilacor)

- Jaheira (Doom)

After the intial castings, all of the Tanar'ri's summons had been horrified, so they fled.. the Tanar'ri was frightened as well, and turned yellow. From there, i cast Holy Smite x 2 and had Minsc and PC rush to take him down.

Anyone else use tactics along those lines? Any others you can think of?

I'm having way too much fun!

Me - I generally rush them, almost regardless of party set up.

One of my few preperations is to cast some Anti fear spell, I hate fear and that it always affects 2-3 of my party but none of the enemies when I cast it :D

But I usually have at least 2 heavy hitters in my party (+3/4 weapons) - and they take the brunt while 2 others take down summons and the rest use spells/arrows on the demon.

remove fear, improve haste, then cast free action...

the tanari can cast fear, and death gaze, which is a very powerful stun spell....free action will take care of that...

after those 3, they are toast...
They call me Darth...

Monks sound incredibly difficult to play. Yet, i am very curious.

When it comes to RPG's, Baldurs Gate 2 is my first one. I really... am not too good at them, but i have such a blast playing. Anyway, those are so cool ideas you guys have, definately help me on my way through next time
