Read them yesterday. nice work. looking forward to sou. I've got it but the others i play with haven't picked it up yet so i'm waiting patiently.

I think you're a bit harsh on the graphics but to each their own. If they souped up the graphics anymore, the minimum requirements would probably escalate further narrowing the target audience a bit, perhaps. Perhaps not.

My only real gripe with the game lie with the manuals. I stopped playing DnD during the reign of second edition rules. That said, I don't fully get the math behind certain parts of the game and I wish I did. However, I'm not really willing to go out and buy or browse through 3E rulebooks to find out. Simple things like "mighty", "massive criticals", "combat to hit rolls", "spell resistance", and others.

Final note: Is Undrentide intentionally misspelled that way to tell us how you truly feel about the game. :D ;)

Must've been a typo both Buck and I missed.

And yes, I do think the graphics are sub par, as is the engine. The only reason I play the game, in all honesty, is for Argyle.

I think he meant in the title for this thread. :)

Good reviews though, getting some good work for when you want to journo?

@Ned: Like you, I took a hike from AD&D during the reign of the Second Edition rules back in the late 80s. However, from what I have seen of the 3E thus far, both from IWD2 and NWN...the game system has been simplified and improved to a great degree. This can be seen in the new AC values, which more accurately depicts the dice roll an attacker needs to hit you. Instead of saying your Armor class is -8, for example, your Armor Class is 28. A 28 is what a 1st level nobody with no bonuses to their attack whatsoever would need to roll on a d20 (the basic die of the 3E) in order to hit you. In the old system, "-8" in reality was "+8" to the roll needed to hit. Confusing to some.

Most every other action now is done with a DC (Difficulty Check). Instead of leaving it to a percentile roll on the percentile dice (two d10's), the 3E takes a character's skill at a particular action and pits it against the DC of a trap, lock, spell, etc. This also applies to feats done in combat, or in non-combat situations. A variety of modifiers can affect the DC. This leaves more room for individual character development, and a virtually limitless avenue available for roleplaying. Classes aren't so restrictive as they used to be. :cool:
