A couple of months ago I got a new computer, and I've only recently installed BG2 and TOB on it. The installation went ok and there was no problems with it. That is until I actually tried to play the SOA part of the game. It asks me to insert disc 2 into the drive, even if its already in there. I take it out and put it back it and yet nothing happens.
I've washed the disc and cleaned out the actual drive (not that it needs it, being nearly brand new an all), and it still doesn't work.
What I don't understand is that disc 2 worked fine when installing BG2 and it still works fine on the old computer. Its just on the new one. Its really annoying me, so any help would be happily recieved .

If you have installed ToB, then you should be using the ToB disc - even if you are only playing the SoA part of the game...if you are using the ToB disc, and are being requested to insert a different one, then I would hazard that your installation has corrupted somehow and suggest you reinstall, prefereably a full install
<edit> also, if you have multiple drives, be sure to put the disc in the drive you used to run the installation.

Use the ToB disc for playing SoA? Thats strange, I've never had to do that before . I did a full installation too. Oh well, I'll have to re-install it then. Crap, I guess that means I'll have to re-install all the mods and patches too. *sigh* Thanks anyway .

I just tried that and it came up with "Please insert disk two to continue" or some message along those lines, so no luck with that. I'm in for a fun time messing around with installations tommorow

Just a thought, is your ToB disc scratched or dirty? If not, you probably do have an install problem If you have downloaded the mods executables to your SoA directory, save them elsewhere before you uninstall, that way you don't have to download again. Also, you could consider copying all of the disks to your hard drive and running the installations from there, that or you could knock off the DMA from your CD drive (often faster drives have caused problems with install). Taking off DMA will slow down the installation, but it will be more accurate.
A full install of SoA and ToB should have you running the game from your ToB disc, without any prompt to insert another.
Good luck

My ToB disk isn't scratched or dirty, at the moment I'm able to play ToB off of it. I'll try the reinstall and then if that fails I'll try copying them like you suggested. Thanks .

Woo hoo! It worked, thanks Yshania . I've already started a new and its working perfectly. Lucky I opted for an extra large memory when I got the new PC, otherwise the 2300MB+ would have taken quite a chunk out of it . Thanks again.

I am happy it worked for you Now that you have installed the game, you can delete the files that you copied from the discs and free up your HD space again btw, I don't mean delete your newly installed SoA folder I mean for you to delete the folder where you copied each CD to
