Imoen's belt

Anyone know exactly what this does ?????
It says something like Imoen is not sure how she got this belt and it despite her best efforts it cannot be removed.

Does it have any function or is it likely to be a "plot device" in the Throne Of bhall Expansion ?

After you get imoen from the asylum, I think the belt is gone.

It prevents her from dropping below 1 HP, the assassin that shows up if you try to kill Linvail after you sided with him also got one, prevents you from screwing up the storyline, though you can kill them via "Shapechange" in Mindflayer form...
