Game plan (some minor spoilers)

Post by Grubs »

Heh heh.

So I'm making a party with 2 of my characters, and 4 NPCs. Here is my party:

Kensai (13) to Thief, dual long swords
Berserker (9) to Cleric, hammer and flail

Keldorn, 2H sword
Valygar, dual katana, probably some mace too
Mazzy, short bow (short sword backup)
Imoen, with Jan as replacement when necessary

With this party I hope I can experience as much of the game as possible. I made the first two characters because I couldn't really reproduce those class combinations with NPCs. Anomen can almost replace the Berserker/Cleric, but he doesn't have the proficiencies that I'm looking for. I don't want to use any mods.

So here's my question. I want to get all my party members together as soon as possible, without having to miss out on any content. My plan is to head straight to the Government District, grab Jan and the Valygar quest, and then head straight to Umar Hills to get Valygar and Mazzy. After I finish up there, head to the Temple District, grab Keldorn, and then proceed through the rest of the game at a normal pace.

Is there any reason why this wouldn't work? Is the Umar Hills area going to be too tough for me immediately out of the prison, particularly without a Cleric? I can nab the Ring of Regeneration from the storekeeper before I head over, so hopefully I'll be able to handle it.

Thoughts?

Since it's been successfully shown up here that you can win BG2 with a single sorceror or six fighters, why wouldn't your group work? The game was deliberately designed to offer a reasonable chance of succeeding with just about any combination. Short of playing BG2 on impossible, with your eyes shut, I think it would difficult to fail. :D ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Umar Hills is, IMHO, the easiest of the outdoor quests. You might want to take along Daystar or AzureEdge to deal with some of the larger groups of undead, but this isn't necessary.
