I think you'll need 25 charisma to give Nordom his highest stat upgrade, but I could be wrong.

You can always cast friends, or eat the Frosty Mint Candy, to increase your charisma at a cheap cost. ;)

Yea, but that stat check is bugged, so you actually don't (unless you have the Fix Pack).

Here's a question.
I just started experimenting with tattoos and I tried raising NO's intelligence from 14 to 18 (l 5 mage). Surprisingly he didn't gain any extra spell slots. What gives ? Shouldn't I get like +1 to each level ?

Intelligence only effects how many spells you can copy into your book, not how many you can memorize. The amount of spells you can memorize is determined solely by your Mage level.
GameBanshee used to have the D&D charts up but I can't find it since they changed...
Once you reach 19 Intelligence you can copy as many spells as you want (but still only memorize as much as your Mage level will let you).

Would it make sense to be trained as a thief by Annah , level up a bit from her teachings , put all the skill points in one particular skill and then train her and return to main class (mage ?)
I mean - getting some skill in all 3 classes won't hurt me at all ?
I already know about class specialization so that's not the issue.
But won't that screw up my thac0 / hps/something ?
There's literally no penalty for class shifting ?
Just being curious.

Also is there no way to help Annah get more skill points a level ? (intelligence tattoos doesn't seem to help)
BTW How much pick pockets you need to have to steal safely from merchants (for example in lower ward) ?

As far as i know, there isnt a way to increase the number of points to distribute with her. However, raising her dex (and the NO, if he is a theif) will increase her theiving skills.
I'm also pretty sure that every thing stays the same when you "switch" class (hp, thaco, profecienies etc... but if you switch from mage to fighter, you wont be able to cast spells) but if you are wearing class-specific items, they will be unequipped and you will lose the benifit of them.

No, there aren't any "penalties". But keep in mind that there are class "restrictions". For example, some weapons can only be used by Fighters (active class), only Thieves (active class) can use thieving skills, and only Mages (active class) can cast spells. You always retain hit points, THAC0, and proficiency points.

BTW, if you want the Nameless One to get a lot of extra thieving points (plus a cool weapon), let the guy in the Lower Ward train him as a Thief.

Thieving skills max out at 127, I think. (Maybe it has something to do with binary code.) But even if pickpocketing is maxed out, you'll still get caught trying to steal about 30-50% of the time. I think it's cheesy to reload if you get caught stealing, but you might have to do a lot of that if you want to do a lot of stealing.

Keep in mind that you can't sell stolen items back to any of the shops. So don't expect to make any money by fencing stolen goods; it just won't happen. The benefit in stealing is that you can get things for free. So, in my opinion, you should only steal items that you want to keep and use.

Well, keep in mind that you only get hitpoint gains when you level up in your highest level.
So if you go to say level 6 as a Fighter before switching to Mage, you will end up with more hitpoints, because Fighters get more hitpoints per level.
If you had gotten those 6 Fighter levels after already reaching level 6 in Mage or Theif, then you would end up with less hitpoints.

Thac0 may work the same way, but I've never looked into it so I don't know.

Thx that cleared things up.
I knew about not being able to sell fenced stuff (I just wanna steal a few spells, rings , perhaps some charms - selling my own)
And I was just thinking to benefit from the exp of training with Annah - not that I wanna train/use my thief skills. Seriously no matter what the stats tell this guy is too oakish to be a thief. :o :D
