Neverwinter Nights Issues

Post by James Mason »

Starting today, when I try to play the game it doesn't work. I get through all the opening screens and everything fine, but when I go to load my game it starts out with "upacking module" or something but then just crashes and I have to control alt delete. I have the latest patch, any suggestions?

Try loading a different saved game and see if it happens all the time or with a certain reload; it could be that you have a corrupt file in that save.

Which version of Windows are you running?

Did you add any new software right before the problem started? It seems to have spontaneously occured yesterday, right?

You might try running System Restore and go back to a day when you knew the game was working fine. You might also want to do a complete uninstall>reinstall.

Check to see what is running in the back ground when you start the game. Have you changed any hardware or software, as hld says, that might alter things.

If your in XP, go to start --> Run --> type in command and press enter --> type in chkdsk /? --> read through the info there and chose and appropriate letter --> type chkdsk /<chosen letter>

This will scandisk your hard disk and try to find errors. Other alternatives are backing up your savegames and giving nwn a complete reload (as HLD said again)

I got the newest patch 2 days before the problem occured. But it worked fine for several play sessions before going weird on me. I guess I'll try reinstalling and see if that fixes things.
