New mod in progress: Blades of Brynnlaw

Post by Ghreyfain »

Ahoy thar me hearties!

Should ye be scourin' the seas for new mods te play, thar be a new one in the makin' by the fine folk over at The Projects. The Forgotten Wars Projects, that is. :)

Ahem, anyways...

Here's an excerpt from the FAQ to give you a brief explanation of what this mod is.

----------------------

Blades of Brynnlaw is a new adventure that takes place on the island of Brynnlaw.

It happens in chapter 6 after the PC has emerged from the Underdark and is hunting for the Rhynn Lanthorn, and will give you a chance to explore the island and it's inhabitants more fully.

It is intended for a party of level 13-16 or so (around 1.5 million XP), so it is suggested that the player do a stronghold quest in chapter 2 to gain enough gold to rescue Imoen and proceed directly to Brynnlaw and through the Underdark.

Some highlights include:
- A (hopefully) refreshing take on what it is to be good or evil
- A new stronghold available to all classes, in addition to any other strongholds you may have
- Numerous flavour NPCs to enhance the immersion of Brynnlaw
- Smuggling, plundering, thieving, looting, and general skullduggery
- Challenging combat (though nothing on the scale of the Weimer tactical encounters)
- Hirelings!
- A new dungeon to explore
- Expanded buildings in Brynnlaw
- Diverse PC dialogue options to enhance the role-playing experience
- Multiple outcomes that depend on your decisions
- A chance to put Desharik in his place
- An epic battle involving THREE armies

----------------------

Set sail fer the BoB forums straight away, ye scurvy sea dogs, lest Umberlee send yer ship te the bottom o' the sea te let yer soul rot in the Boneyard for all eternity! Arrrgh!

An excellent idea. Brynnlaw was definitely one of the more lacking areas in BG2.

Uhm, I'm wondering... Why is this in the ToB forum?
Is there a particular reason... ?
Is the mod going to require ToB by any chance?
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Ah, finally. I was wondering if anybody was going to ask that. :D Ghreyfain...?

Yes, it will require ToB even though it takes place in SoA, since I use some maps from ToB.

I tried to make sure I posted this thing in the proper forums as I went to various BGII sites, but I guess I missed this one. Not sure why... but there you have. Feel free to move it to the SoA board if you want. :)

If it requires ToB maps to run, then the MOD's being discussed in the right place. Carry on. :D

Well, I should post this over at FWP, but since I just registered here, I thought I'd save myself a forum hop.

Ghrey: is this mod going to be heavy with the audio like Kelsey is? Not, that I don't like adio, I just don't want to be waiting 3-4 hours for a massive amout of audio files to download. My 9Gb hard drive is filling up fast!

Off topic: Well, I see this forum has alredy engulfed a few people I know from other message boards, hopefully this one won't suck me in too deep.

BTW...how the heck did Thanatos become an "Exalted Member"?!?
William Wallace: Yes, I've heard. He kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.
