KANGAXX !!!

Four Words:Black Blade of Disaster!
All you need is a fairly high level mage or a fighter/mage that can cast at least 5th level spells. For the mage, the Spell Trap option provided by the Staff of the Magi is extremely helpful and for the fighter/mage the Soul Reaver (I believe you need at least a +4 weapon or better to hit the dastardly lich!) in combination with Spell Immunity: Abjuration a couple of times.

A Time Stop spell can come in handy twice in this battle; once when Kangaxx is in his undead form to dispel his many protective spells (Khelben's Warding Whip and Breach are very handy--if one has more than one ninth level spell, Spellstrike will do the trick)and then once ol' Kangie is in his floating form, cast Time Stop, Black Blade of Disaster and Spell Immunity: Abjuration and use the last round or so to beat him down with the Black Blade. Extra Time Stops are provided by your Spell Trap absorbing his Imprisonments and transfering them a ninth level spell back into your arsenal. He will eventually fall, leaving you grinning with 55,000 EXP and a brand new ring of evilness!

Using a fighter/mage is fairly straight forward using Spell Immunity and a powerful weapon, although you might need some backup when he's in his undead form. Backup should include a)a Priest that can cast Sunray or Bolt of Glory once or twice each and b) another wizard powerful and wily enough to break down his magical defences.

The fifth level priest spell Magic Resistance is very helpful as well as Death Ward, but if you follow my aforementioned advice, you won't need any extra protection (a Protection from Fire spell, scroll or potion couldn't hurt, as he casts a Sunfire when he dies the first time).

Toodles, and happy hunting...

If you want a *smart* Kangaxx (that reacts to your protections and party, go here : http://www.in.on.ca/~cmohan/redwall/bg/bg2_scripts.html and down load my script for him. Place it in your override and its a tougher fight. For power gamers that think he is too easy.(note he does not stand there casting Imprison all day if you are immune). :)

1. The Spell Trap cannot save you. It absorbs 30 spell levels and Imprisonment is level 9 spell. Therefore, Spell Trap absorbs 4 Imprisonments, is it enough?
2. Time Stop, Soul Reaver, Black Blade of Disaster... No offense, WitchTooth, but we want the Ring of Gaxx as soon as possible, i.e., before leaving for Asylum. With level 9 spells and powerful weapons, Kangaxx can be done in many ways. The challenge with Kangaxx is: Kill Kangaxx in chapter 2 or 3.

And so here speaks (I simply must speak) the Chapter 2 slayer of all irritating monsters (I like them all dead by the time I come back---no unfinished business):

All you REALLY need to kill the Demi-Lich is one person (best your PC) who is protected from magic and the wand of wonder (which you can get from the Temple Sewers).

Have this person simply walk up to the Demi-Lich while the critter repeatedly hurls Imprisonment at him/her. Then have the person use the wand of wonder at the aforementioned critter until the spell "Petrification" comes up.

Voila. The Lich is dead, and you have the ring, and 55000 experience to share. I was barely level 9.

Post that up if you deem my two cents worthy, Mr. Satan :D

Wand of wonder eh?...Where EXACTLY in the sewers did you find this.

P.S. Whataya mean by protection from magic? There are lots of ways to do that.(scrolls, equipment, spells,potions...)

Protection from Magic scroll. 'Tis the only thing I found that works for a non-berserker PC against Kangaxx (besides the Protection from Undead scroll).

You can find the wand of wonder in the Mind Flayer area in the sewers. If you have Edwin or any other mage in your party, just refer to my strategy for Mind Flayers slaying (just two mages can do the job).

Note: my memory fails me sometimes (hey, killing so many monsters in one chapter can kind of screw you up there), but I'm pretty sure it was at the Mind Flayer area.

Enjoy the Ring of Gaxx! ;)

He means the scrolls of magic prot found in the adventurers mart and if you really want to knitpick you dont even need the Wwonder just a staff of rhynn and the scroll, thats why I *fixed* the AI with my script. Because it was way too easy once you knew how to beat him.

I thought it was cool at first when I was just out of Irenicus dungeon and had his ring , but later I thought u know thats really dumb, a demi lich that does not even respond to you, just keeps casting imprison over and over again.
So I fixed it.

Hey KensaiRyu, it's no biggie about the gender ;) I just like setting things straight, since you can't tell anyone's gender for sure around here. (BTW, are you a 'he'?)

And yeah, I'll really start showering you with kisses if you give me an infinity engine tutorial. I do C++ and Java, so I hope I catch on quick. Just email me at blasphe@yahoo.com or at my address in my profile.

*kisses in advance*

Stop that!!!
There are children reading this....

Best way to kill him is by "protection from magic" and +4 weapons.
Also note that the melf´s minute meteors does damage to him.
Remenber that you will deal 1 or 2 damage to the demilich and Spell Immunity have the bad habbit of running out at the worst time...
- Waterdeep city constrution.

- Shadowdale low level adventure module.

Let me just say that there are many ways to beat him, but I found a rather nice and tidy way my third run through. I was in Chapter 2 and my chars were about 12-13th level and I only has a few weapons capable of defeating a demi-lich (+4 or better).

The chars I used were me (plain ole vanilla Mage), Keldorn, Yoshimo, and Aerie (yes the same Aerie everybody seems to hate). It also involves a slight cheese tactic of knowing where the lich will appear.

Weapons: Sling of Everard (me), Flame Tongue (Keldorn), Ring of the Ram (Aerie), Traps (Yoshimo)
Spells: Spell Immunity (Abjuration)

So first, I made Yoshimo set all of his traps right in front of the sarcophagus. Then I put Keldorn and Aerie on either side of the traps. After Aerie activates the lich (clicks on the sarcophagus), Kangaxx appears and does his evil rant. When that is over, he turn red and activated the traps (ouch!). A couple whacks from Keldorn later and he goes into evil rant #2 telling you how stupid you are for freeing him (this time for real) and turn into the Demi-Lich.

Then I backed Keldorn away from the lich (making sure Kangaxx fixates on Aerie) and had Aerie cast Spell Immunity (Abjuration). So Kangaxx starts casting Imprisonment on Aerie (which does nothing) meanwhile I have my mage and Keldorn pelt away at him with the sling and the Flame Tongue (which is +4 vs. undead) repectively.

So the sweet part comes when the lich is down to badly innjured ... this coincides with the Spell Immunity wearing off (convenient) so I have Aerie activate the Ring of the Ram. So Kangaxx not only dies, but rather spectacularly as he is blasted across the room by the Ring of the Ram .... nice.

Just to let you know, he can also be killed with the improved (Illithium-covered) Mace of Disrupton +2. I was quite surprised to find Anomen whacking the Holy Bejuses out of Kangaxx with THAT...

The improved Mace of disruption kills him so fast (usually in the 1st round) that I updated my AI with Kangaxx taking the mace from you and putting it in his inventory if your party has it...That way its not an easy kill...And you have to kill him to get it back...He says some dialog about you dare bring that weapon here! or something like that...

Play it safe:

(Said with an annoying TV-SHOP voice)
Are you tired of getting imprisoned or knowing that you just might be?
Do you know the problem where your great plan goes down the drain and your party becomes imprisoned?

Well wait no more!

Garcia eyeterprises now have the solution.

It's no risk, little work and guarantee to work and you will have a 14 days full spell back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

First send in a man (thief if you want that extra little ring). Then you run! Out of his view. Then summon the great wizard's eye. Yes it is a beauty isn't it?
Send it in to his "normal form" but while you are at it why not send two (after the other one is unsummoned of course) they will suck up all his spells like you never have seen spellsucking before. Now he is like a little lamp with lvl. 1 spells. Take him to the far corner of the room and kill him (with one or two members is best, why?) when he is dead...YOU RUN!

One down one to go!

Summon a fire element..BUT wait there is even more if you summon now you'll get an extra fire element at no cost at all. Then summon a wizard's eye. Send in the wizard's eye AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE and then simply attack with the two fire elements, one on each side if possible (just in case he should "turn yellow").
"But won't the demi impression the fire elements?" glad you asked!
You see once the Demi has got a taste for the eye and it stays closest to him he will attack it + the fire elements has a reach that makes them hit a little from the distance.
"But how can they hit him he is so big and strong and even my biggest fighters can't hit him?" Glad you asked Bob!
You see whenever you order "wizards eye tactic" kit it comes with four +4 magical weapons called fists. These babes are located at the end of each fire elements arm for maximal performance.

and for even faster takedown order 'melf's minor meteors' this way you can take a little action in the battle.

Good fight and good night!

(The short version)

-Send in a man (the one with boots of speed is best) and awake "normal form" and run again.

-Summon one wizards eye and send it down to him. He will use some of his spells. Do this again to get rid of the last nasty spells

-Kill him with melee or magic but do it as far away from the door you enter.

-Then run away when he is changing form.

-Summon two fire elements and then one wizards eye.

-Take the eye right up to his face and the demi will start blasting. Followed by the fire elements that attacks him.

This way you will not even see him (the eye will but your men will stand from the distance) if you want to take part use Melf's minor meteors it is safe enough.

It's fast it is easy it's safe. You should do this the second time you try the first may fail.
