Can anyone with TOB (I ain't got it yet) confirm that Use and Item is a Bard special ability?
If so...I think this class is going to be way fun to play.
I know from posts, guides, etc. is it SUPPOSED to be a Bard special ability, but I want to know if it's actually implemented.

use any item applies to everything. scrolls wands, holy avengers!
i wonder if they can use shields though?
there still are a few drawbacks, it's tough to use a two-hander to backstab, and they still only have one base attack.
heavy armour will disrupt thieving abilities + casting for bards.
i'm not sure if thieves will be able to gain the proff. in some of the weapons.

I'm also checking Bioware's board some and it looks like people have experimented there with this ability for thieves at least. Shields are YES useable, somebody was bragging about their swashbuckler with a ridiculous AC using Sentinel. Looks like everything is usable, staff of the arch-pumpkin and all.Originally posted by koz-ivan:

Now, the big question for me, dedicated Skald-head that I am...What happens when your Skald puts on that ring-o-wizardry? Extra 5th, 6th, 7th level spell. Bingo. Unless Bioware absoluately went out of their way to wack this, Bards will soon be able to cast at least one 7th level spell.
If somebody with TOB could check this out, I would be eternally grateful.
I am already scheming deeply in my little war-gamer's mind about all the lovely tricks I can play when my Skald is able to use any and every item in the game. Sure, wielding the Unholy Reaver will be fun but not that great; Keldorn's armor will be an interesting curiosity; but there are some other things floating around that I can't wait to experiment with.
Well, I have to wait -- at least for Amazon.com to get their sluggish acts together!
use any item rocks!
my assassin now has a familliar!

and i hate to burst your 7th lv spell bubble, but the ring trick prob. won't work, the ring works the same way as bonus spells for cleric's w/ high wisdom, no extra spells until you can cast spells of that level.

I suppose Thieves can use scrolls now? With the Simulacrum/Scrolls trick from Vhailor's Helm, soloing Swashbucklers takes on a whole new dimension
