Beat NWN last night... rate the final battles (poss. spoilers)

Post by DraySkullan »

I had more trouble with Aribeth, than with Maugrim or the final battle. Was alot of fun though. Only made 16th level though, musta missed alot of xp somewhere...

Also, a couple of other questions...

I rejected Linu in favor of a possible romance with Aribeth. It definitely looked shaky for a while, with the traitor thing and all, and when it finally happened, it was a bit anticlimactic (I have feelings for you, we'll talk later, final battle, final credits). Would the romance with Linu have been better?

Just before the final battle, Tomi started talking to me like he was about to turn on me. I talked him down, but what was up with that? Would he leave or attack you if you didnt handle the dialogue correctly?

It is not a matter of lefting out xp, or at least i think so after testing the whole xp thingy.
The first time i have finished the game at level 16 (Paladin 14/fighter 2) so I was wondering how some people reach level 20. So here is what i found:

Somehow having a henchmen even though you should have a lower CR (I didn't level up my henchman and I only got one after level 5) the xp you get is lower than fighting alone. So I continued the game solo and the xp was more. I am playing an Elven Ranger/Rogue character and when the xp started to get really low after gaining some more levels I finally reach level 11, (ranger 6/ rogue 5). So i choose my animal companion, a hawk. The hawk is supposed to be 5 levels lower than the ranger (I think) so I got a level 1 bird according to my ranger class. In the case of animal companions however the CR is lowered and you get more xp so i was getting the xp as if I was level 6. The result?, I have just reached Luskan and i am level 16 (Ranger 8/Rogue 8). So my guess the key ito reach level 20 is to find a way to lower your CR either by animal companions or familiars and it seems that there must be some kind or a glitch with the hechmen.

I don't think there is a way to actually romance in the game, just a few flirts as far as i know.

I don't remember the actual conversation but it looked like some last words from your henchman (possibly this happens with the other henchmen as well) in the case that anything could go wrong.

I don't mean to brag, but all the final bosses were ridiculously easy to me. I actually had a lot more trouble killing the various wizards, demons, and the luskan "party" inside the house leading to Maugrim.

Aribeth lasted maybe a few seconds with my rogue constantly knocking her down and the death monk raining down the blows (incidentally, I replayed the chapter with just my rogue and it was a lot tougher). Maugrim's attacks are -useless- and is even easier if you lure him away from his golems. The final fight was just ... long. It took forever to kill the statue with a rogue and I still don't understand how the priests are supposed to die, but they somehow did. Morag couldn't do squat against my reflex saves though, and her death spell(s) are easily neutralized with an Uthgardt or Guiding Light belt.

I don't know what you call "romance", but I played a female character, and Aerin and her eventually admit their love for each other in chapter 3, with some minor dialogues in chapter 4. He also gives you a neat amulet in chapter 2 that you can eventually upgrade in chapter 3 to cast Light unlimited times.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure your henchman will start a conversation when you enter the final boss area, at least I got one with the Death monk.

Yeah, my male paladin had a romance with Aribeth. She gives you a ring (which also happens to be the key to bringing her back from her betrayal). But there's no time to really have a romance because she leaves and you dont see her again til the end of the game. By then, she tells you she cares, wants to have a romance and that you'll talk more later. Then you go save the world and the credits roll. Sounds like the Aerin Gend romance is much better for females.

Too bad, she is way hot. Every time I saved my game, I was like "You WILL be mine" :D . And even cold out rejected Linu, like I said. Is there a possible romance with Sharwyn?
