Poor Mr. Bilbo just wants his ring back. Why does that ingrate Frodo deny him this? Image Heh, J/K. Image A new avatar from the most startling scene from FotR (for me anyway). I rather like this one, and may keep it around for a while. Image

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Definately, I think the entire audience jumped in the cinema :)
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

Ditto. :)

Fun Fact: Weta Workshop made a hand puppet and Ian Holm's face was morphed into it to make this scene. It took months to make the puppet that was only on screen for a second. :p But Ian Holm loved the look of it so the folks at Weta made a bronzed version of the puppet and gave it to Holm to put on his mantle. Hehe...that was a cool scene...but it was only slightly startling. :D Ive seen "The Shining" way too much to get startled from an elderly hobbit with a hunger for a ring. Though I was surprised that he did that at that time.

Works well for an avy, and thats a fun fun fact. :D
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

I guess I just got into the movie more, since I jumped a foot when it happened (and I'd read the books and knew it was coming)! Image The fact that I've seen the Exorcist, Jaws, the Shining, etc. didn't have any bearing on it. ;) A great freak out scene, and a cool avatar. :D

Or maybe its because you saw it in the theatre, which makes it feel more real, and gets you into it more. While I just saw it on DVD.

Did you see the expanded edition or the plain vanilla version?

Plain old vanilla. But maybe I should see the extended version, because Im sure its offered on the DVD. I just jumped right into the movie, without looking at too many options.

Well the expanded DVD is a special 4-disc set with an 30 extra minutes of footage built in (and was only released this November). It's bad-ass, though it's probably best to start off with the original since even Peter Jackson admits the pacing is a bit off with all the extra footage (but it's damn cool to watch). Image

BLAIGHH!

*eyes dilate*
*falls to ground*
*crawls backward toward the corner of room*

Get away from me you doppleganger! Show your true form! Maybe this is your true form. Of course what does true really mean? Can there be true! Shut up! Get away! No. LEAVE ME ALONE! Would anyone care for some coffee?

BLAIGHH!

Time to break out my patented gibberish generator (or was that my martial arts attack generator? No matter...) Ahem: The shadow lizard dominates the grotto; silences the thrust of the stone! Image There you go.
