Favorite place to store stuff

Post by ETAKO TUMANO »

I've gathered a lot of stuff in my wanderings, particularly potions. When I first played BG1 I just sold things off when they got to be too much to carry around.

Then, of course, I'd come face to face with a situation where I needed a particularly potion or scroll real bad, but I'd already hocked it back in Beregost or Nashkel.

Now I'm a little wiser and I'm looking for a convenient place to stash stuff so I can get it when I need it.

What is your favorite place to put stuff?

Seeing how you're going to travel a lot up and down the map, I generally keep the 'extra stuff' in the back of Kagain's store in Beregost (central location on map) before chapter five and in a barrel behind "Sourcerous Sundries" after that...

There's a bar in Beregost with a sign out in front picturing a sun. Upstairs in that bar there is a drawer, I leave my stuff there.

I've always used Kagin's place too. I even leave NPCs there as well.

Beregost is the best place as it is centrally located. I usually use the house near the jovial juggler (the "Spider Quest" one) since it is near the bottom of the map and therefore makes for a quick exit. Also good is the tent in the Naskel carnival where the mage is trying to kill the woman.

However, I have found that most of the stuff I store for later never gets used so I generally just sell it. If I'm ever wrong I can always go and buy it back later at only a slightly higer price. Sort of like mortgaging property in Monopoly.

I always use a random barrel in Beregost, and then move all the good stuff (wands, scrolls etc) to Baldur's Gate later on.

The little sack outside thunderhammer smithy. A good place to put ankhegs scales in and... Spoiler (highlight) sell to the smithy one by one, so he would give 200gp for one and not for all.

When I first went through the game, I was too stupid to store scrolls and the like; I just sold them. And anything I didn't use went to be sold as well. The last time, I just used everything as soon as I got it. There was so much stuff to use that I had a virtually infinite amount of potions and scrolls to use.
