Windows XP and compatibility

Post by Recoba »

Hello

I have upgrade my computer (athlon 2000,256mb ram, geforce 4 etc etc.) and I now have xp. I was wondering if there are problems with

*neverwinter nights
*icewinddale 2

that users have experienced as I am thinking about these games but don't want the dissapointment of them not running.

just for reference I have installed bg2 and it works ok.

Thanks you all

Can't comment on IWD2 as it hasn't been released here yet, but NWN runs very well.

As with most games, one of the more important points to note is keep your display drivers up to date. Makes a big difference to performance and stability.

No problems with IWD2, I think it runs better in XP than 98SE. Provided you have a lot of RAM, I think XP takes about 120 mb just to run, so getting some more memory might not be a bad idea if it is an option.

I've got NwN running on XP too.
It works just fine. Can't say about IWD though. But since it has the same engine as BG2, I'd say it'll be ok.

stay in tune with game updates as well and check the tech forums for each game. Usually, if you're having a problem with a game, you're not the only one.

Looking at your system, I'd say to really increase performance, add another 256 MB of memory but make sure the memory you purchase works with what you already have.

512MB of memory with XP makes a huge difference while the previous win98se couldn't make use of more than 256
