A look at the special skills of the three classes

Post by cjdevito »

After trying out a lot of different characters, here's my impression of the unique, class-specific skills for each class:

Mage - Trade places with any NPC. Sort of a teleport that swaps you with someone else's position. Verdict: nearly useless. You'll almost always be able to run away more quickly then using this option.

Survivor - Crouch. Unlike the embrace shadows skill, this always works. Keep a reasonable distance from any NPC and you really won't be detected. The downside is that you can't do anything else (no attacking, casting or even picking up items) while crouched. Verdict: moderately useful, if only for sneaking past NPCs.

Warrior - Swirl attack. Absolutely the best skill of the three, attack everything within range in the same time as one regular attack. Devastatingly effective when combined with envenom weapon or cold damage. Also a life saver if you're using a slow weapon type (hammer, axe).

I'd have to agree with that, except that very occasionally the mage's special ability is strategically useful: you can literally jump across an area, evading attack. Still, you would think they'd give the mage something else; maybe permeability (walk through walls twice a day), or something.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
