Virus Alert!

Post by thantor3 »

As a good and contentious citizen of SYM, I felt it was my duty to post this lastest virus alert that I received today:

~~~~BAD DAY VIRUS ALERT~~~~
If you receive an e-mail entitled "Bad Day", delete it IMMEDIATELY. Do NOT open it. This one is really nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer. It demagnetizes the strips on ALL of your credit cards. It converts your ATM access code to an all-points-bulletin, screws up the tracking on your VCR, and uses subspace field harmonics to send your pets in a rabid frenzy. It will program your phone auto-dial to call only 1-900 numbers. This virus will mix antidepressants with your multivitamins. IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING. It will drink ALL your beer. It will change the password on your microwave.
FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING?? "Bad Day" will send dead flowers to your mother. It will order 200 cases of girl scout cookies -- from rival girl scout clans! It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company. It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine, all the while dating your current boy/girlfriend behind your back and billing their hotel rendezvous to your Visa card. It will cause you to run with scissors and throw things in a way that is only fun until someone loses an eye. It will change all your active verbs to passive tense and incorporate undetectable misspellings, which grossly change the interpretations of key sentences. If the "Bad Day" message is opened in a Windows 95/98 environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair-drier plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub. It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will also set up repeating appointments in your PDA for you to humiliate yourself in public.
***** WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. DO IT NOW! *****
And if you don't send this to 5000 people in 20 seconds you'll shriek so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person nearest you. Don't wait -- send this to EVERYONE!
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. :D
*sings Bob Geldof's I Don't Like Mondays and plays the piano ala Johnny Fingers...* :cool:
The "I Dont Like Mondays" song Im familiar with was done by the Boomtown Rats, but there could be multiple versions of that song....
...by the Boomtown Rats (probably should have written "...Geldof's version..." :rolleyes: )
Anyhoo, I liked Geldof's version and loved the way the piano was played. :cool:
@DW: I couldn't agree with you more. :mad: I also hate all those fake warnings too that would want you to even delete legitimate programs... some people... :rolleyes:
The moderators email gets hit by Klez.H@mm at least twice a day - or rather I do, I don't know if it goes out to the rest (but I would think so).
Getting hit by Nimda rarely these days, mostly from some website that have been infected, but rarely by mail.
On the other side, my firewall gets hit by Backdoor/SubSeven trojan horse up to 5 times a day.
I've yet to be infected by a virus (lukily)
Yep, you think right :)
Same here, at least a few of them are my ISP for some reason :D I also get something to do with orifice 2000 or something, I think it is Bill Gates trying to spread the infection of office onto my machine ;)
Last virus I had was an unkown one and it kind of killed my machine, that was before I had proper protection ;)
I usually get a couple of calls a week from people who want me to fix those ones. Usually after they've deleted the file involved too. Kinda funny in a sad way.
@Sleep, backorifice is a system control utility that is often used by hackers. Oddly enough it started out as a legitimate program, similar to VNC or Netmeeting's Remote Desktop Sharing.
It makes me wonder what happened before I got hold of a firewall and I don't think I would feel safe on the internet without one.
Ah yes, "we don't have the technology to make this a proper virus so you are going to have to do it for us." :D
Well I ran broadband for about 1 month before getting a firewall, and looking at the attacks I get from TrojanHorses I feel somewhat nervous eventhough my antivirus keep telling me all is fine :)
The old days of dial up I don't fear as much because I was online for substantial less time, and my IP changed more often due to it :)
Just thought I'd clear up that Bob Geldof was the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, and probably wrote all their songs too...
I got that once, but it was called the Amish Computer Virus.
