Javascript problems

For sometime, I have been having problems with any webpage that uses javascript. When I click on the link, I get an error message that says the page is unable to load. I have check all of the options and securities for IE 6.0 and none appear to prevent javascript from loading. I do use Ad Subtract, a third party cookie/pop up ad disabler, but even when it is not running I have this problem. I am running Win XP Home edition. Any ideas?

I wondered when someone would actually have this problem. The actual problem in this case is M$ and their evil monopoly tactics, they have made XP without Sun(tm)'s system of java, it is not actually javascript that doesn't work it is java applets.

If I recall correctly you have to download the correct java virtual machine from Microsoft, XP comes with M$'s own Java machine installed, I hope that helps, as to where to download these from I have no idea.

You can usually get the MS java virtual machine from windows update IIRC.

Thanks for the replies. I download and installed XP Service Pack 1, which apparently has the MS virtual machine, but that didn't help. Do I need to get a Sun virtual machine?

I don't think you need that to load applets but maybe others know better, are you sure the VM was included in the SP? IIRC VM is a big file by it self.

Shouldn't be much bigger than 5MB, and it's available as a separate download (at least it used to be).

@Mr Flibble, you are propably correct i can't recall the actual size of VM but i was with the idea that it was a big one

nice web site demis, never stumbled across it before, but will dig through it in depth.

To stay on topic, find a JavaVM download. It shouldn't be too much hassle...aside from the hassle you've been through already.
