Dakkon's Zerth Blade

Post by Prad »

I'm about to restart BG2 with a bard who will dual wield katanas, i.e. celestial fury and hopefully D's zerth blade. My question is, will a bard receive the bonus spells from the sword or not. Similarly, will the ring of wizardry and/or ring of acuity (I think that's the one that increases lower level spells) be usable by bards.

Cheers

You will receive the bonus spells from the blade but you can't use the rings (mages only).

Watch out with Dak'kon's Zerth Blade. If you hold it in your off-hand and cast a spell that creates a weapon (Shocking Grasp, Melf's Minute Meteors, etc), it may wipe all your level 1-4 spell slots clean :(

Or is that just on my machine?

No, that's quite logical. As soon as you remove the Blade you'll loose those extra spells. When using Melf's or some other weapon, you're no longer holding anything else in that hand.

I see... Well that has to be a bug if ever there was one. Hasn't happened to me, though.
