The Oktoberfest tent

Post by der Moench »

After months of over-time at the monastary/brewery, the time has finally arrived to roll out the barrels ....

Oktoberfest is here!! Image Image

Yep, 21 October through 6 September is that most holy of German holidays in Muenchen, Bavaria; where enormous tents are erected in a field, and beer is drunk in quantities hardly to be believed. Image

So, I hereby open this beer tent for the patronage of all SYMers. I'm afraid my duties at the brewery are still such that I will not have much time to join in the revelries, but I have stocked the tent with some two gross of good German Oktoberfest barrels, and I am sure the Rolling Thunder boys will bring, uh, something different for those of you willing to risk it. Image :p

Enjoy, all!! Image

I'll drink to that COMMrade...

...it's not everyday that I get to have swigs and swigs of what is presumably the best beer in the world.

@der Moench. Nice thread.
The area of Australia I live in was mainly German settled, and we have a Schutzenfest in January, when the weather is hottest. A few people go target shooting and every one else fills up on beer and sausage.
I feel right at home here.

Oktoberfest and schutzenfest. My mind is filled with strains of Mein hut der hat drei ecken and beer barrel polka. Germans know how to party! :D

*Puts on his lederhosen*
Let's dance! :D

You know, I never really understood The Oktoberfest. I've seen tv programmes about it, since we (in holland) get some german tv stations. All I understaind is that there is lots of beer and bratwurst, and though this is actually enough... :D I'm curious.

What's it about?

LOL :D Mr Scruff? And that person dancing with lederhosen is probably me. I seem to be a bit drunk at the moment, with all the German beer here, I seem to have gotten a bit excited.... :D

Seriously though....I have just recieved news that if all goes well, Im going to be an uncle! :) :) :) My sister has been 2 months pregnant and things look good. Shes feeling basically well, nautious sometimes but I think thats natural. The doctor says shes healthy and Im excited about being an uncle. Along with that, Ive watched a good amount of American football today and 80's music videos, so things go very well. :)

Cute......... :D

BTW-I REALLY want things to go well with my sisters baby, she has been hoping for some time now about a baby and shes put many things on hold, so while this may be a happy occasion, Im also praying that everything goes well, because if it doesnt, well.....it could really set things back.
