Then there are those real classics from my N64. Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time, my other really favorite game, possibly better than Baldur's Gate. It was so exciting. So much too do. Once out of the forest, I was going all over. There were so many easter eggs, and hidden weapons and items to get, and hidden quests, and those thousand or so rumours on how to get to the Temple of Light and take the triangle thingy.
Another game which gave me a similar feeling was GTA 3. Amazing game, not as good as the other two, but starting that game off was amazing. I just watched the sunrise over the city. It was beautiful. Then hours spent doing stupid things.
And further back to the old Sega Megadrive days. Still remember all the hours me and my friends spent playing Sonic 2 & 3 and Quackshot. You couldn't save the game, so we had to go on super long streches. We spent hours trying fatalities from magazines for Mortal Kombat 2 and 3.
Its just some games that really get you. They just left me awe and I still can't believe how good these games were. I've played a lot of good games. Civ 2 and 3 are alot of fun. So was Half-life and the 2 million mods made for it. Even Doom and Duke Nukem were fun in the earlier days of the PC. But those games couldn't just compare to Baldur's Gate series, especially the first one, Zelda; Ocarina of Time, MK2,3, Sonic 2,3, GTA3. These games gave me rush. I really loved Zelda, GTA3, and BGs because of their non linearity. Yeah in the end you still have to do some of the quests and missions in a certain order, but alot of smallers ones can be done at any time, and there is often periods when you can go and explore and do all the side pointless but fun stuff.
So what are everybody elses favorite games. The ones that really got you into them.
