Damn. Why must we be put under the impression that we listen and agree with Dubya's dang stupid moves. I hate it when generalizations are off-bounds. And I would hate for the country to be viewed as a believer in all of his moves.Originally posted by fable
Just heard (literally a minute ago) a report on Germany's Deutsche Welle in which they quoted Bush promising a large gathering from the logging industry that he would "ease restrictions" on logging in the Northwest US to help "prevent forest fires." How shall I describe the attitude of the station...? Put it this way: the BBC has always viewed US citizens as a little absurd and divorced from reality. This attitude now appears to be spreading, thanks to Dubya.
Forest Fires? Easy! Remove the forests!
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

I am speechless. To everything is this thread. Are the goverment distributing hallocinogens to the American people before the elections?
I shouldn't be surprised though regarding the forests, since Bush has previously demonstrated his total lack on knowledge and/or considerations of any environmental issues.

There have been protests. But AFAIK, I dont think its been among the top stories, so the media is trying to ignore it, I think. Which gets me angry aswell.Originally posted by Tamerlane
So how many people in the States know of this?
I'd expect some heated debates coming out of this, however it seems that Bush is seemingly unopposed.

The main reason, Bush can say what he wants, but doing it might prove to be different. Look at the Alaska and see where his idea went.Originally posted by Tamerlane

The goal he has at the moment is to get public support...something that IMHO will be short. Trust is not his ally.

Let me also remind you that Dubbayah, president of the country that pollute our planet the most, chose not to come to the present international World Developmet summit meeting, where environmental and world economy issues are to be discussed.

Sometimes I am so embarrassed because of certain actions that the country that I am a citizen of makes such stupid or bad moves.Originally posted by C Elegans

Makes sense, right? I mean, even if he is a multi-millionaire who made his money in the fossil fuel industry, and his cabinet is filled with people in the same business, none of them would be doing this to make more business for their friends, would they? I'm sure the only thought in his mind is to help everybody out, and he's obviously put a lot of thought into coming up with such an intelligent, well conceived solution. Correct?

Probably a tad off topic, but that little bit of trivia really annoyed me.
