what's in a name ?

Post by dragon wench »

Have you ever encountered somebody whose parents saddled them with a name most people would change at the first available opportunity?

If so, this is the place to make mention of these poor, beleaguered souls.... :D

I will start...in grade school I knew a guy who had been dubbed with the unfortunate handle of Richard Head..... (I am not kidding, "Head" was his official family name).

Of course...given that D!ck is the short form or Richard (I've never quite been able to figure this out...).....
No doubt you can all imagine what the poor poor fellow was named at school...... :D

Poor guy! :D That's almost psychological abuse by the parents!

I have met several people with extraordinary names, but unfortunately none of them translate well to English.

There's a girl who used to work in my office who named her kid Wolfgang Skyler; that kid's going to lose a lot of lunch money at school because he has a ridiculous name.

There's woman who works across campus named Sharon Peters; that's a name I wouldn't marry into . . .

My non-profit organisation also has a donor whose last name is Wunderlich, which is another name I wouldn't marry into, because it sounds like the stage name of a lesbian pornstar.

Kids can't help what their parents name them; but you wonder what parents are thinking when they pick some of the names they do for their kids. This is especially true when they name their kid something like Tristan Leopold IV, because that means there were three others before him!

My broker's name is Bliggenstorfer, which I am sure must have been difficult for him as a child since his first name was D!ck....

In defense of doctors everywhere, I would just like to say that patients never ask us such things. Ever. Just doesn't happen.

The Cleveland Browns used to have a player named Ben Gay, who was a crowd favourite. They cut him last year, but not because he was a pain in the ass.

If there are any regrets, it would be more along the lines of you... and not getting to play doctor. :p :D

Well in NASCAR there is a driver whose name is D!ck Trickle. That can be a bad name, I think. :D

It could have been worse; at least her first name wasn't Anita.
