Chapter 1 forge problem - kinda spoilerish

I seem to be unable to get the Chromatic Breastplate forged.
According to the recipy I need:
1 Diamond
1 Magical suit of amour AC 6.

I've just recently come across a splintmail +1 total AC of 6 and 1 diamond.
But I can't get this plate crafted - what have I overlooked?
(btw - I've had the Great Sword crafted, so I know I can get stuff crafted, but .... )

Problem solved - should have used a Breastplate +1 instead *duh* - was kinda in the name also
