Can't import BG2 characters?

Post by Mini Me »

Hi i just got NWN, and was anticipating being able to import my lvl 40 fighter with the pantaloons armor in to NWN. I have tried many different ways but i cant do it. On Baldurs Gate 2 it says this is possible though. Is it just a forgotten promise or must i do something special.

just a guess, but the developers most likely balked at the idea of trying to convert char's from 2nd ed AD&D to the D&D 3rd rules.

char creation alone is completely different, a well rolled bg2 1st level char would be leaps and bounds better than a point buy NWN char...

Originally they wanted to do it, but they realized that there is no point to it since the only thing of your character that will remain is his name, race, and gender.

I was also bummed that they didn't do this. I even replayed BG1 & 2 all the way through yet again to build the ultimate character, but nope. If I had only payed attention to Biowares FAQ. Personally I don't care if the stats between the rule version don't match. After playing through NW once and then importing your character (similar to playing through the two other games) you should be able to get similar stats.
