overall, i feel nwn is a good game. not the greatest mind you but good none the less. i think i was spoiled by the bg and iwd series.
the one thing that irritates me is that we as a community had to wait so long for this game to be released and when it finally was, it was riddled with bugs. i have already lost several games in chapter two. at this rate i will probably never finish the game. while i agree that they can not get everything right for everyone's machines, they should not sell a game that was so lacking, for approximately $60. what are their qa people doing. i feel that we were the qa for this game which i don't have a problem with, if i know i am doing it. hence, they should have paid us by not charging us so much for the game.

anxiously awaiting IWDII
we should be paid....
I agree Jim - they did rush it out the door - but remember that WE were screaming for them to do so...
Has any game in recent memory been initially bugless?
I am nearing the end of Chapter Two and I am fearful of what will happen when I try and load the next chapter. I had a corrupted Bard at the end of Chapter One.
The only serious bug I've encountered: I was not able to load any saved games while inside the Charwood Crypt - I kept gettting a stoopid error like "nwplay caused an error in nwplay.exe" then when I clicked "OK" it dumped me back to the desktop. I had to load an older save, and play without saving/loading until I got to the town of Charwood, at which point things returned to normal.
I don't count being stuck in walls or on a roof as bugs because I'm feeling generous...

I've only played 3 games on the PC, BGToSC, PoR and now NWN, and all of them have had bugs in them on the release. Although frustrating, I think Bioware has done a decent job detecting these bugs, and getting them ironed out. I'd imagine that when you develop something of this size and complexity, that you're bound to overlook a few things, and that's why they have discussion boards, and feedback links on their sites, so people like you and I can tell them what's wrong, and they can fix it.
NWN was released a little over a month ago (correct me if I'm wrong), and already there has been 3 patches. That means to me that Bioware know's there's something wrong, and are on the case to fix it. I work with software during my normal (did I just say normal?) job, and can tell you that with the small stuff I work on, it's damn near impossible to find all the bugs, let alone a game with so many different possibilities, configurations and scenarios.
Would you rather they put out a game for $25 bucks, and then make you pay $5 bucks per update?
All in all, I personally don't mind them fixing bugs after a release. It shows diligence in achieving a good quality product. Also, it closes the doors for the same mistakes in upcoming games. They'll know what to look for.

If worms had uzi's, birds wouldn't mess with them!
BG2 was nowhere near this buggy, and it was just as complex, if not more so. Come on, when a game has save errors you know there's something very wrong. NWN obviously should have spent some more time in the Quality Assurance department. And I don't care if people were "screaming" for it to be released. A final release should not be crashing and causing data corruption. Even if they eventually fix these major bugs, it's unfair to those who preordered or got the game as soon as it hit the shelves, who just happen to be Bioware's biggest fans and supporters.
Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
Pirated software is wrong - and just because you didn't do it yourself does not get you off the hook - your using the pirated software is just as bad as your friend creating it. It takes two to tango.

I'd have to say i was dreading paying the ammounts of cash you americans seem to be shelling out for it
but in england it was no more expensive than any other game cheaper in fact than many only £35 (exchange rate is about 1.5 US dollars to the pound)
still dont mean it is right to pirate

Here in America, it's anywhere from $54.95-$59.95. If you opened your handy, dandy windows calculator, you'd see that if it costs 35 British Pounds, and the conversion rate is 1.5 US dollars to every 1 pound, you'd see that it cost the same.... I guess Bioware doesn't care if your American or British, as long as they get 50+ for the game..
