When playing Morrowind I get a strange effect in exterior environments. When facing away from the lightsource, some objects appear normal and some have a kind of mist/light shroud. The way each object luminesces chages as I pan around.
I'm running an ATI Radeon 8500 with the latest, digitally signed, catalyst drivers under Win XP. I also have Rage 3D Tweak installed - the only way to get proper refresh rates in games! Remainder of the setup is a gigabyte 7VTXE motherboard with an Athlon 1800+ and 512Mb RAM.
I seem to remember reading a post somewhere that suggested disabling the table fog option to fix this problem but I have table fog disabled and it still occurs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mr Sleep, a fan of the great Iain M Banks, I presume.
Since my original post I found out that Gigabyte's F7 bios had absolutely screwed up all their boards if you were trying to run a high end graphics card. The F8 version listed some minor fixes but obviously did a lot of behind the scenes work which it didn't tell you about!! Apparently F7 fixed the Vcore voltage too low which caused horrendous problems when the graphics card was asked to do any serious work.
I also cheated slightly and had a constant effect ring of nighteye made (with acknowledgement to Userunfriendly for the idea) so now the luminosity within my field of vision is constant.

What about altering Graphics aperture or some of the AGP related BIOS settings? What were their suggested fixes?Since my original post I found out that Gigabyte's F7 bios had absolutely screwed up all their boards if you were trying to run a high end graphics card. I was on a tech forum where the suggestion was to increase the Vcore by 7.5% - 10% yourself. However, the F8 bios has fixed this, resulting in some much-needed stability. I have tried increasing the AGP aperture to 128MB with no effect. I also experimented with fastwrite and read synchronisation but that had really diastrous consequences.
Gigabyte offered no suggestions, having never told anyone that they had screwed up in the first place! The F8 bios also enabled onboard L2 caching which apparently had not worked in any of the previous 7 bios's.

You have altered the Bios level settings i would have suggested, i can think of nothing more that can be done using bios.Originally posted by Silver Knight

What about downloading the via 4 in 1 drivers, have you tried that, i can not accept responsibility for anything that might happen, check all documentation etc but if you want to go here
