Inserting items

Post by 17daysofrain »

Is there anyway to give your character an item during the game, either by using the console and DebugMode1, or through another method?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm in Chapter Two at the moment and have decided to complete the rest of the game with Sharwyn. However, I finished the first chapter with Tomi, so I didn't undertake Sharwyn's first quest. I can't get past the second quest dialog with Sharwyn, and I am almost certain it is because I don't have the item that Sharwyn gave as a reward in the first chapter.

I believe if I was to insert the item that Sharwyn gave as a reward for the quest in chapter one, it would then be possible to complete the chapter two quest. If anyone can tell me how to go about inserting an item, it would be much appreciated.

There is no console command like the CLUAConsole:GiveItem() in BG to add items to your character, at least none that is visible or that Bioware have chosen to tell us about. However there is a way to get the item: with the Toolset.

Create a really small module, as in one room with the item o nteh floor. Export your character, import him into the module, pick the item up (Pendant of the Elf +1 IIRC) and export again. Not sure however if you have to do this at the beginning of a chapter, as I haven't found a way to import a character into the middle of a game.

He would have to start chapter 2 over if he wanted to do this as the only way to export the character in and out is between chapters. And the item in question for Sharwyn is the Performer's Belt or something, not the Pendant of the Elf, that was Linu's item. You actually might try giving yourself the Celestial Elixer as that was the item to finish Sharwyn's Chapter 1 quest but I really don't think you can. If you progress through chapters without finishing the NPC quest for the chapter I dont think you can progress to the next. I did everyones chapter one quest except for Grimclaw(he was evil and I didnt feel like using him) but I decided in chapter 2 to try and do his quest just to see what his item was and it wouldnt let me, I assume because I never finished his Chapter 1 quest it wouldnt let me start his quest in chapter 2.

There is a console command but I haven't played around with it enough to know if you can give yourself items. If you hit the "`" key in the game a prompt will appear in the upper left hand corner of the screen. You can then tab through the different commands to see what is available.

Yes, but as I said in my post there is no command to create items on the list, and if one exists Bioware have made it in some obscure language so noone can guess it and haven't told anyone. As everything leaks out eventually, I'm inclined to believe there is no such command. Likewise it is very unlikely that there will be an editor from MUDMaster (GateKeeper, ShadowKeeper, DaleKeeper etc.)
