Demogorgan problem...(spolier)
Demogorgan problem...(spolier)
Well I looked through the old messages and didn't find anything for what happened to me, so here goes...
My first visit to the Demogorgan lair I told him I would be working with him and against the Helmites. Once that dialog finished (Without go up and talking to the Helmites)I summoned minions and got eveyoen ready, talked to him again to force a fight. I did and I won.
Here's where the problem is, I go and talk to the Helmites after I killed him and there's the standard "You return..we sensed the lower vault had been breached, what happened?"
I then have only one dialog option and that's telling him I killed the Demogorgan.
He then say's "You killed the prince of Demons? how's this posssible?? (or something like that)
And then the game states
NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS, the dialog ends right there.
I can hit enter to get out of the dialog with him but nothing ever happens and he'll just repeat the same thing if I talk to him again.
Anyone run into this?

Looks like you managed to save the Helmites' lifes.
Sounds really heroic....
Too bad that was never meant to happen in the game!
Spoiler
The Helmites' doom is to be killed by the Demogorgon, one way or another. It's not surprising then, they have nothing to say to you anymore... they should be dead by now!
Definitely a game bug.
If you have a save before the fight, you should exit the keep, talk to the Helmites, and convince them to enter.
Then enter yourself and fight the Demogorgon. They will be there with you during the fight and they all get killed by the Demogorgon.
There's no real way to save them.
Remember Spellhold and the mad wizards in the first fight with Irenicus?
Same sad story.
Hope this helps
Good luck

Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

hmm no, It's just SoA with ToB and the latest patch. What I thought would happen was the dialog with the Helmite would finish and then the Helmite ghost would materialize and
chastise/scold/kill the Helmites for failing in there duty.
Littiz were you kidding about saving them? if not how'd you do it? I thought killing the demogorgan before talking to them would be the only way.
The reason I wanted to save them, I'm a good guy, I'm always a good guy
(also I wanted to see what would happen since I never played it that way)
The error is weird in another way as well, when it say's "NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS" in the chat window, it also say's this below replacing the big return box.
Not sure why they would'nt think someone would kill the Demogorgan right away, and have a dialog sequence for that situation, oh well.

We're amazed!
You possess knowledge and powers beyond our understanding indeed!
(I mean... no way to save the Helmites menitioned in my walkthroug)
Go on and surprise us all!
@Littiz: I did it. Now, Kelsey's romancing Renee O'Connor
I'm quite sure he has no objections at oll about my Aunrae's... "change of look"
We both thank you very much

if i remember correctly, you can keep the helmites alive by reading the scroll when you hit demo's prison, kill him, and then leave.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach
IIRC it's simple as Zelgadis explained!
@Serje: you're welcome!!!
Actually, you play with that pic WAY before than I will...
(has this statement any sense?

How odd. I guess you meet no solar-like specter that way? Or is there an alternative dialogue with the watcher specter for that choice?
I understand the meaning quite well!@Serje: you're welcome!!!![]()

I thought you were playing with your good-cursed-damn-cute-kensai character already... (and romancing Sola).... What's wrong?

Due to my absence, I lost your questions, @Serje!
But since the thread has been resurrected, I can now
recover a bit of my courtesy!
First, about Demo: you can do immediatly the ritual
and remain locked inside.
Demo himself offers a way out, so that you can go and
get angry with the priests.
But you have also the choice of challenging Demo right there,
immediatly, so you can free yourself and nobody will be hurt!
About my long delayed ultimate run:
As you know, I'd want the Imoen Mod before starting!
Maybe I could do just with RTW, which also seems to
have some "Imoen content", but for most of the game Imoen
would be silent once again!
So, for the PERFECT (and not necessarily last) run, I have to wait...
I've edited my char a little more in the meanwhile..
I've also decided that the perfect run will be
WITHOUT romances
And I'm playing warcraft III, JUST to ease the wait

@Littiz: thanks you for answering, I wasn't going to take offense anyway
Still, I'm as curious as before. I guess that what you suggest could be what Krimmy did in the first place (ending up bugged).
I'm playing watcher's keep myself now, and I'm wondering if I should consider that option at all ... Honestly, what I'm really interested in is to know what should happen if I choose to do WK the way you suggest (assuming I don't get the same bug).
I'm interested in rpg implications, too.
What did the helmites do in your case? Just walk away to do their business? Stay there for no purpose?
I mean, they swore an oath to guard Watcher's Keep forever!
Doing things "my way", a helmite spirit appears, gives you a second scroll to seal the keep again, and tells you that the Helmites should have been trapped in the Keep with the Imprisoned One... That was the will of Helm... (Who am I to argue?)
(Ah, I remember now... the Son of Bhaal)
Aunrae always forgets about this part...

If you kill Demo (without exiting to face the helmites)
he'll simply go back to his plane.
The helmites then are VERY surprised, as they didn't imagine
he could be beaten..
Also they're worried, for he's "free" now...
But they realize it was THEIR fault, and beg for forgiveness!
If you let them, they simply go away swearing to repair their
mistake with their future actions.
This one seems the "best" solution, nobody is hurt (not even
Demo, uhm...
) and you gain more xps...
I assume you never fought Demo before?
When you have, try also the improved version!

(Let me guess... Are they going to frame somebody else to imprison him again?)
Actually, I fought the Demogorgon after going in, using the first scroll, going out again, talking with the helmites, talking to the spirit, getting the second scroll, and going in again without using the scroll...
(If you tell'em that you killed the Demogorgon and that's not true, they go in to check... getting themselves in trouble... But if you tell'em the same thing and it happens to be true, they don't? Isn't that odd?)
I just didn't like the idea to kill poor imprisoned Demogorgon cold-bloodedly at first sight!
Why should one do that?
They explicitly asked you not to do it!
Anyway, I think I'll try to explore all the possible outcomes with some strategic saves now that I know that there are some... so thanks... uhm, but I should go to save Immy first, I guess!

Update.....
Not sure why I never tried it before but it seems the problem I described doesn't happen when you approach Watchers Keep from ToB.
So in my lasted run through having finished the keep in SoA and killing the Demogorgan and receiving the error decribed above, I revisted the keep from the ToB side and thier dialog string worked fine, got 50K in exp and rep +1 for doing so.
Go figure...
