How can I bring an item that I made with the toolset into my current game?

You can't. The only way to do it is to create a module and leave your new item in it. Then go back into the game, start a new game with the module you created then import your character into the module, give him/her the item then export them out. Of course the only way to get your character back in is to export the new version of your character into the single player campaign between chapters.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
