The Obsidian Market

Post by Obsidian »

Ladies and gentlemen, no doubt you have heard of the black market, where anything is available. What we have here is the Obsidian market, where, contrary to popular belief, I am not available. (Sorry ladies :D ;) :D ) At this market, the world is your oyster, hamburger, or any other particular of food that you find enjoyable. I prefer fish and chips. So here, the world is my fish and chips.

And as a secondary note to the widespread availability of goods in the market, I have realized that Star Craft is a very fun game, so please exchange thoughts about that worthy game!
My question for star crafters out there, is how on earth can zerg fend off Carriers without getting slaughtered?
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

Well, the Zerg are a biological menace that have no disregarde for life, and sole purpose is to kill stuff. Protoss on the other hand are respectful, and feel complacent with their powerful weapons of death. And in the middle, the Terrans are sitting there, shooting whatever the hell moves in their reticle, hoping togod they live. Guess which I am. :D

I always play protoss and never uses carriers so im not really sure. But I suspect Mutalisks will do fine, just remember to attack the carrier and not the fighters.

I bow down to the Link Master... :D
As far as beating those nasty Protoss Carriers with the Zerg is concerned, a squadron of 12 Mutalisks with as many upgrades you can think of should do the trick, backed up by scourges. Having a Zerg Queen slowing it down (Ensnare IIRC) will also help.

*Starcraft expert walks in*

Well,
*clears throat*
The first thing you need to do before you demolish those nasty carriers is to know that the zerg own air. With that knowledge half the battle's won.
Now you have two options. One is to have devours that was the name of mutated mutalisks, right? with scourge support. Devours splash acid pores or something similar and for each acid pore splashed, the unit makes one damage less then it should. Now the little plains do only 5 damage and with 5 pores they will do a measly 1 damage and the carrier will be worthless. You might as well throw in some more scourage then to kill off any still living carriers.
Second is to have lots and lots of hydralisks. They generally own carriers, if they can get close enough (carriers have the nasty habbit of hiding over cliffs where hydralisks can't reach them, or running away across water-mass to avoid hydras.)
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

Actually I don't like the "normal" games too much. I'm more of a red-alert'er, the Starcraft and Warcraft games are a bit too slow for me, I'm used to have a whole base within a coupla minutes.
But I do, however, love the homegrown custom games (Protect the Queen, the BunkerWars series and the many "rpg" style games).

I havent played the game in 2 or 3 years now.
But i will start again.
Seem to have lost my brood wars cd.
Anyway i play terran as well.
Protoss are too slow in armor and weapons development.
No punch.
Will the zerg man they get goin really fast but the upgrades aret really that great.
Terran are pretty balanced.

To get the carriers, i would use tens if not more of those acid spitting creatures (i dont remember any of the names) as well as those zerg that are self destruct creatures, or is that brood wars?

Ganja Farmer is far better with the music, but I haven't been able to find a version where it works yet.

If you're referring to the Devourers (mutated Mutalisks - air-to-air only) then, yes, you only get those in Broodwars. The self-destruct creatures are the Scourges. There are plenty of good sites out there, dealing with strategies, units, special abilities.
e.g. this one

I find SC is one of the easier games to eliminate an enemy base in. My personal strategy, as one of the few good Terran players (My ladder scores proved that one year), I use commando raids. Playing against a Protoss player one game, I softened the usual wall of cannon turrets with a nuke. I then proceded to fly in two drop ships, but full of marines, and one Ghost a piece. I then hollowed the enemy base, from within. It's a shame. People always have these huge armies, but they never leave parts of it around to defend the base. The Protoss player was out decimating the zerg threat, I eliminated the entire Protoss production line, and power sources of his primary base. Quite sad to see 14 marines and 2 ghosts do that to a fully developed PRotoss base... :D

Thank you. I always tried to entertain my fellow SC players with my stories of Terran might. :D
