trouble starting the game

well i got the gwme deliveded to my house a couple of hours ago and i have yet to start a game, my problem is as follows

i start a gave a get the 3D FX logo thingy appearing whisc is fine then i hear the back ground music for the other things like wizards and bioware corp that appear then the game goes to the main menu which is a plain white back ground with the "new game" load game" and so forth buttons but still the white background, i have no cursor but i can still highlight the buttons (as they gat a yellow outline when the cursor (which i can not see) goes over them) i can click on the buttons but it is impossible gettin anywhere with no cursor and i get screens with plain whitness and a cancel button

any help will be really appreciated

What type of vid card do you have?

it's all right i fixed it and my Voodoo 3 card now works but i have other problems (i still ain't started a game)
