Cast of Characters : (Partially Done)
Ryu “Wolf” Masterson : Asian mixed blood, average built type, black hair. Have an interest on hacking and trained in self defense by his own father Ken Masterson. Ryu is the sole heir of Dragon Clan – which is kept a secret by his father for unknown reasons.

James “Snappish” Song : A mid ranked mob with a severe temper control problem. A womaniser and over self-confident guy.

Bebee “Buddy” Schwartz : The right hand of James which got fascination upon men than women.

Joop “Handsome” Geest : Handsome, tall – all the women dreamt for packed in one guy.

Hank “Smooth” Newton : Fast thinker, highly exceptional perception on things around him.

Tobias “Slacker” Unger : A fast mouth and manipulative guy.

Winston “Dracula” Gates : Small framed guy – who’s considered an expert on explosives.

Blake “Arnie” Usher : Got a built like Arnold Schwartznegger but sadly he’s only got 5ft tall. But he’s ability to crack any vault is exceptional.

Art “Romeo” Mc Arthur : Known for his passion on fast car – but got severe family problems. He always has a quarrel with his wife even for small things !

Sylvester “Grandpa” Triviani : For a man in his 30th age he sure looks older that he is. His hair is totally gray. But he sure is one electronic whiz.

Sam “Beard” Johnson : Most people will think Sam got rough attitude – but deep inside he’s one gentle fella. Sam is known for his strength and big appetite towards booze.

Roger “Whitey” Samij : Roger rarely engaged in conversation with his comrades, but he sure is capable to forge any type of documents.

Chapter 1 : Fate

“Geez, mom !” Ryu lean his back while staring on the monitor. “I’m a man now, why she have to keep mention such things on her emails” he snickers remembering the time back when he’s still with his parents. Being the only son of Masterson family like living in heaven and hell at the same time. He still remembers how Ken, his father wakes him early in the morning before the sun appears and train him with what Ken so-called basic training. Kens basic training started early when Ryu was a boy. Ken is very strict on this one. He sometimes drag the young Masterson from his bed just to do “the basic training”. His mother pampers Ryu that sometimes Ken can only sigh towards his wife over protective attitude. Madam Masterson loves her only son, even when Ryu decided to pursue his dreams on Centaurus City she prepared lots of things for him. Ryu remembers the time when he have an argument with Madam Masterson since she has already arranged an apartment in Centaurus City. But then again deep down he thanked his beloved mother for this one.

Centaurus City is a vast city often called Steam City due its heavy industry complex. The day when Ryu arrive here, he get astonished by high-paced rhythm of Steam City people. It’s very different with Archon Lodge where he grows up, tranquil and simple. With electronic knowledge and mediocre knowledge on Computers he found out that it’s not as easy as he think to get a steady job. Finally after six months he get a job interview. To his dismay the job that available was only Maintenance Technician, but Ryu decided to accept it anyway. “Well, I hope it’s lead to something better. After all it’s hard to get a job here, moreover it’ll keep mom from bragging me to return home"

It’s been ten months now; Ryu is walking home from work. Moonlight almost as dim as candle light up in steam covered sky as he walks on the narrow alley. “Damn corporate managements, they promised me a career advancement after six months. But seems like all they ever want is only a low paid staff with multi tasking capability” Ryu inhale his cigar smokes try to dissipate his frustrations. “I guess I gotta hang on till there till I get better job replacement” He continue to walks along the dark alley. It’s gonna be a long walk to his apartment tonite.

“Are you sure this is not a trap, Snappish?” Buddy looks around shakily. “You gay, even if it’s a trap do you think they can overcome James Song and these men easily??” James lights his PearlBongo Lights confidently and starts walking followed by Bebee and 4 men. “Bbboss aaasked uuus ttto do business with his rrrival, and Ssssllackerr agree to dddeal in ssssuuuchh scarrry ppplace” “Quiet you gay, I dunno why you can get any trust from Big Eddie with such a gay attitude! Now shut up or I’ll personally plant a bullet in your gaily ass! ” James spits and give a killing look towards Bebee. Bebee, who’s still shaking pulled his jackets collar and mumbles. The six men continue their walk.

“Be prepared for any ambush!” James enters The Mad-Man Café followed by the shaky Buddy and his 4 men. “You have the money?” James approaches the left corner table and sits calmly while his other fellows stand & look around. Ivan “Jerky” Schitzonovitch, leader of Slackers men grins, “What do you expect? Travelers Check?” Jerky is Slacker right-hand man; he’s known for his cunning and calm persona among the underworld. Slacker trusted Jerky with most of his business, unknown by Slacker Jerky also runs his own business using some of Slackers men, which he picked personally. “So shall we get down to business? I hate long introductions” James signal his hand, and one of his man who carries a bag moves forward and hand the bag to Snappish. “Always so straight forward, eh Song? Why don’t you relax a bit and have a nice cup of coffee before we get down to business” Jerky pulls one stick of MoldEleven and lights it. “If you know my name then you should know that I hate to chit chat on business deals” Snappish stands up as he’s leaving. “C’mon, Song. I’m trying to be a good host here. If you insist to cut short our meeting then so be it. Please sit down…………C’mon chill out” Jerky look around to a man on his left and ask him to hand him a brief case.

Snappish snorts then takes his seat while Jerky open the briefcase. “Hundred thousand is the price we both agreed right? It’s all here. Now would you mind if I check the merchandise first?” Jerky turns the opened briefcase while signaling one of his men to move forward, Snappish do the same thing while his eyes sweep whole room cautiously. “Very nice pieces aren’t they?” Jerky lifts-up HK-MP5 his man handed for examination “A real beauty indeed” he adds while loading a magazine. “Satisfied? Those babies don’t come easy” Snappish unlock his holster carefully waiting for the worst. “A pleasure doing business with you” Jerky stands up stretching out his hand, Snappish shakes Jerky’s hand while his man close the briefcase. “And Song………send Slacker’s regards to Big Eddie will you?” Song smirks while he opens the Café door.

“Glad it works out without any incident eh Snap……” “We’re not out of the woods yet, be quiet and let’s get to our car. Bonzi, call Skid to bring the car three blocks from here” Snappish tell one of his men while they walks on dark alley. “I need to take a leak. Can we stop for a sec?” says Bebee. “God sakes! You can take your leaky after we’re back” “But Snappish, I can’t hold it any longer” “Skid not answering boss” Bonzi looks worried. “Sheesh, Ian you stay with this girly man. While me and the rest check on Skid. I got a bad feeling about this” Snappish takes out his Glock and runs followed by his other 3 goons, who do the same. “Ooooohhhhhhhhh, boy. Such a relieve!” “Bebee, we’ve gotta hurry!” “I’m not done yet. Do you know how long I’ve………………Ian?? Ian, wher………………” Bebee quickly hold his breath as he sees 4 men stand approximately 5 feet away. Ian’s body lays motionless near those men. “One down five to go, make sure you get that money back” Bebee hears one of the men; he also can see the silencers equipped on those men arsenal. He prays those men don’t see him in that dark corner as tremendous fear overwhelm every inch of his being.

Snappish runs as fast as he can towards a car, his men are behind him with their weapons ready. “@#$%^&! Skid’s out, be prep…………” as he turns around to his men, Snappish feels a hot sensation on his leg. He quickly rolls to the other side of the car, while 6 men appears shooting at Snappish and his men. Unready for such a swift attack, 2 of them falls. “Well, well, looks like you forget something – Snappish boy!” a figure appears from the thinning smog. Song peers and sees Jerky grins “you know Snappish, Slacker always gets what he wants. In this case the merchandise and the money” “Jerk! I’ll get you for this!” Song fires twice towards Jerky. “Pity…how James”Snappish”Song will meet his maker soon” “Get outta here boss!” Axel, the last of remaining Song’s men pushes Snappish into the river. A huge explosion echoes while Song swim across the dark river “I’ll get you, Jerky! Your sorry soul and family will pay for this humiliation!"

Ryu throws his cigar and gets one out his pocket “Crap! The last one! Gotta stop by Art’s to get one” He turns on next corner, not far away there’s a small stall with a man sitting in front reading magazine. “Hey Romeo, gimme a pack of Sammies” “Hey! It’s been a while, country boy! How’s work?” “Same old same old, those corporate slug heads haven’t gimme promotion.” “Tough break, anyway care to try this new ‘Rugards’? It’s new brand; you should try these. Those Sammies are not easy to get in this city these days” “Nah I’ll stick with this. Is that the new Ottozine?” Ryu smiles toward Romeo. “Yep! Check out this new Stallion 486DXi. It’s got twin engines, and this babies can hit 150 in 8 sec!” Art anxiously shows an article of car, which he read. “Artie you should ease up on your fascination, perhaps you should open an auto shop than running a newspaper stall.” “Hey, it’s not cheap to get an auto shop you know! Especially with my wife’s nagging about this and that all the time. Damn female! Never satisfied on anything!” “Ease up on the wife, Artie. She’s also concern toward your future. Neverless she helps in the morning right?” Art sighs on Ryu’s comment and gives a grim smile. “Hhheellllllp ! Ppppleasse!” a man bumps Ryu, interrupting his conversation. “Calm down, Sir. What’s happen?” “Aye! What rtouble are you into?” Art goes into his stall searching for club, prepared for the worst. “Ttttthhere’re men chasing mmmmmme, wwwwwwaant to kkilll me!” “It’s gonna be a long night!” Art hands Ryu a nightstick as 4 men dresses in dark brown suit approaches.

“You! Boy! Beat it! It’s none of your business, same goes for you Stall keep!” the rough looking man yells. “Gentlemen, please. What’s this man fault? Is there anything that he wrongly done?” “Bug off, boy! It’s Slacker’s order that he must die!” The chased man hides in the stall as Ryu tries to block the 4 men approaches. “Gentlemen, please! I believe we don’t need any violence” “Suit yourself, boy! You asked for it than minding your own business!” The rough looking man swing his knife followed by the other 3. Ryu easily hit the wrist with his bare hand knocking the knife down, while he pushes the other man from the stall. Art got his hands full handling 2 men. The rough looking man swings his other arm but miss, meanwhile Ryu knocks the other man facing him unconscious. Art seems enjoying his fight, every punches he throws meet its target. “Argh!” Art feels the blood on his left shoulder, apparently the other man able to wound him while he knocks the other out. He tries to dodge other strike toward his belly, but it seems too late. The knife flashes as Art stumbles. “Aack!” the man falls as a can of beer hits his temple. Art sighs in relieve, he glances toward Ryu who stands calmly. The rough looking man sneer as blood flows from his nose, “Bastard! Now you’ll get it good” he reaches in for something, but before he gets it out Art whack him out. “We’re even now, Ryu!” he smiles. Ryu lights his cigar while the chased man stumbles out from the stall. “Thank you. Could you please help me to this address?” he asks while holding his right side of belly – it’s bleeding. “God grief! We’ll get you to safety” Ryu takes the paper handed to him, while Art helps the poor guy stands. “Like I said it’s gonna be a long night, eh?” Art says as Ryu closed the stall. “Hey! Make sure you lock it tight!” “Yes sir, your highness” “Now bow before me, country boy!” “Quit joking, Artie. We have a wounded man”

“Psst, do you think we get some kinda bonus?” Romeo stretches his bandaged shoulder. “I see you all get yourselves comfortable” doctor Kline says while helping Bebee sit down. “Well, if there’s nothing more we………” “Hang on there. What are your names? You’ve got some fancy moves” “Name is Art. This here is Ryu. We just acquaintances” Dr. Kline hands some brandies to three of them while Romeo boasts about himself. “So Ryu, what’s your job? You seem quiet” “I’m just a low paid technician. The company suppose to give me a promotion today but they didn’t some how…………” “I see. It’s not easy living in this city with technician salary. Tell you what; come to Orcs & Goblins at nine tomorrow. Ask for Buddy to the guy on the counter, perhaps I can arrange something for you two. This is some small token of gratitude, please accept it.” Bebee cuts in before Ryu can finish his sentence while Dr. Kline gives each Ryu and Romeo a thick envelope. “Thank you, Mr. Buddy. It’s late, we should on our way now” “Please call me Buddy. And don’t forget tomorrow at nine” Bebee smiles at both of them. Soon after, Doc shows way out, out side a car has wait for them.

“Man, we hit the jackpot!” Art counts the money from his envelope. “Looks like Buddy thinks highly of you guys” says the driver without turning to both of them. “What do you mean?” Ryu signals the driver to pull over on next block. “Well let’s say, you’re lucky. If you play your cards right, you can have anything you want in this city. Are you sure you want me to drop you there?” “Yes, please. We’ll think about Buddy’s offer” “Well here we are then.” The car drives soon before Ryu and Art can thank the driver. “Wow! What do you think, country bum?” “Dunno, I think we’ve gotta see what’s their offer tomorrow. G’night, Art” Ryu waves and starts walking, it’s been a long night.

New day begins at Steam City, people and cars fill the streets, as it’s never ends. It’s seems just another typical day on this city. “G’day, sir! Yes it is the new Whispermania; it got news on Brittany Spurs breast implant and whole cover story of Christy Dance affair with the Grasshopper-Man! You take this and today SPAMMY Times? OK! Here’s your change, thanks!” Romeo seems got a good start today, with shoulder still bandaged and cigar seems stick with glue on his lips he take care all people buying magazines and stuff from his stall. “Ryu my man! Got enough sleep last night?” “Morning to you Artie!” Ryu smiles, he’s got enough time for small talk before he catch subway to work. “So that fellow said today at nine eh? I guess I’ll see ya here then.” Romeo tosses a pack of Ryu’s favorite cigar “Here! Consider it a bonus for you” “Thanks Artie! I don’t know about tonight…” ”C’mon you still want to have those slavers step on your genius ness again? You’re much too valuable to become slave for such lowlife corporate! This come only once in a century” “Sigh! You’ve got a point there…………” “Well, well good morning Miss Miller! I’ve saved this last copy of Metropolis for you” Art distinguishes his cigar while a slender, shoulder long black haired woman approaches. “Artie, I’ve told you to call me Angie. Good morning Masterson, still hanging around here?” the woman smiles toward Ryu. “Morning, Angie. How are you?” Ryu smiles to Angie. “I’m great, gotta work hard though. Medical is not an easy subject to study.” “I wish you well on your study then. When you become a doctor I’ll be gladly to be your first patient.” “Do I just hear this country bum flatter a girl? Angie, seems like this country bum like you” Both Ryu and Angie blushes “C’mon you two looks like you’ll be a good pair anyway. Ryu, ask her out! Sheesh Are country bums always shy like this?” Romeo feels he’s on the roll. “Ummm I must catch my subway now. Call me anytime OK?” Angie rushes after pay the magazine and hand a paper to Ryu. Ryu just smile awed by the charm of Angie. “Lucky bloke! You owe me a meal!” Artie smacks Ryu, awaken him back to reality. Ryu still blushing scratch his head. “Well Are you really so predictable?” “What do you mean?” “You always hang around here, kinda waiting for her. Then escort her to subway……Country bum, you’re style kinda old fashion today!” Ryu feels like being crucified by Romeo for such remark. “Don’t loose that paper you hear me? And make sure you call her! Now get outta here! You’re late already!” Art pats Ryu’s back. “Ugh! You’re right! Catch ya later! And thanks for the cigar” Ryu dashes then vanishes in the crowd.

Ryu walks slowly; it’s been a hectic day today. No cigar on his mouth even though his still got another pack which he got from Romeo this morning. Suddenly he feel a movement behind him, using his instinct he quickly avoids the shadow. Before he does anything, lighted by the dimmed street light he sees a familiar face “Damn it! Artie, never sneak on me like that, ever!” Romeo grins “Ready to meet our destiny?” “HUH?” “Blast it! Don’t you even remember the nine o’clock appointment?” “Oh, that one! Well……” “We’re late. Now, do you want to go or not?” “I……………” “Damn, C’mon! Sigh……I guess I’ll be a nice person to night” Romeo drags Ryu, while the tired Ryu follows Romeo’s lead.

Orcs & Goblins Karaoke and Bar is packed with people tonight. Located on South Eastern part of the city strategic enough to draw thick pockets looking for entertainment. Edward Vandango known as Big Eddie runs the Eastern and Northern part of Steam City; he’s know for his friendly personality, he’s also fair hence others also called him Eddie the Solomon. Slacker on the other hand controls western part of the city, while the minority gang split the rest into three parts. Other gang leaders have rated Slacker’s territory expansion aggressive lately. Most of them never like Slacker due his illegal activities; drugs running are the main income for Slacker’s gang. While Big Eddie oppose drugs running idea and keep his business on nightclubs, casinos, and weapons dealing, drugs business looks very tempting indeed since it gain more profit. “Gambling, booze, prostitution & weapons……they have existed since early human existence. But drugs? I’m not going to ruin this city by selling drugs” Big Eddie once addresses his whole gang members. Buddy was trusted to run his whole nightclubs & casinos operations, while Snappish provide the protection and deal with the guns running. The night when Snappish and Buddy ambushed was the first time Buddy went for a transaction deal, it was lucky enough for Buddy to escape the ambush. Back in the bar, Artie approach bartender. “Say my man, I want to meet with Buddy” “Buddy? Who are you? The Mayor?” “Look, Buddy ask us to meet him here. I don’t care any of your rubbish just show me the way okay?”. The bartender picks up his phone and after a while two men come toward Romeo & Ryu “Would you follow us this way, please?” Two of them follow into the back, there are two more men await there. They search Romeo and Ryu “What’s your business with Buddy?” “We’re here because Buddy ask us to meet him here at nine” “I see. Mick here will show you the way.” Shortly after Romeo and Ryu enter a big room, Buddy sitting behind a large desk smiles “Gentlemen! I thought you’re not gonna make it.” “Mr. Buddy…” “No! No! Call me Buddy. I ask you to come here because you’re both talented men. Especially you……Ryu right? You’re good” “I………” “Here’s the deal, I want you to help me run this joint. I’ve got my hands full as I need to concentrate on other joints. What do you say?” “Well……” “Buddy, sir. We’ll be honored to work for you.” Romeo cuts in before Ryu finish his sentence. “Great! You’ll start tomorrow.” “I’d like to make things clear, Buddy. I don’t kill people” Ryu says as he kicks Romeo right foot. “Look you just have to run this joint, make sure all the book keeping is all right. There’s no whacking. Sounds good enough?” “We don’t……” “I know, I know, you got no experience on book keeping. Don’t worry I’ll get a helper on that matter. I’ve done some background check on you two” Buddy cuts Ryu sentence. “Ryu Masterson, you’ll be in charge of this joint. And you Art you’ll be his left hand. You all start tomorrow. Now let’s drink, to our success!” “Cheers” Romeo and Ryu raise their glasses. “By the way I want you to dress properly tomorrow. Arnie and Grandpa will escort you tomorrow morning to shop some clothes” “Please to meet you” Arnie, a short yet looks strong fellow and Grandpa, a grayed hair man smile toward them. “Well, I’ve got some things to take care. Why don’t you enjoy yourself at downstairs? Arnie and Grandpa will escort you tonight. Don’t worry it’s on the house. You two make sure they also get home safely. And here’s something for your snacks tomorrow” Buddy hands over 4 thick envelopes to each of them.

PS: Yeah I know some of you wondering where's the magical thingy. Patience is the key. I'm focussing on character development here. Nahh perhaps all of you too busy with World Cup anyway

“Hello, boys!” a middle-aged sexy woman greets four of them, as Arnie search for a good place to sit. “Suzzie honey I’d like you to meet Ryu and Art. Ryu will be in charge of this place tomorrow. Ryu, Art met Suzzie. She’s the madam here.” Grandpa hugs the middle-aged woman. “Oww, looks like Buddy finally got himself some reliable men. So can I get you some girls?” “No thanks, ma’am.” Ryu nods, while Romeo eyes seem bulging out their sockets. “Oh Ho Ho, you’re very polite for our future boss. You can just call me Suzzie. After all you’re the boss.” “Aunt Suze, can you find us a place to relax?” Arnie says, “It’s a crowded tonight, our usual place is booked” “No problem, just leave it to your dear aunt Suzzie” Suzzie winks and disappear into the crowd. “Arnie you should respect your elder. I was just enjoying myself for a while and you just have to interrupt it anyway” Grandpa smacks Arnie on the back. “C’mon guys! Follow me!” Suzzie appears waving her hand. “WOW! Our usual table! Suzzie you’re the greatest!” Grandpa hugs Suzzie and tries to kiss her. “Well you boys enjoy yourselves. I’ve gotta take care the customers” Suzzie slips away and disappear again in the crowd. “She wants me I know she does” “Yea she wants to smack you outta this joint for sure” Romeo puff Cuban cigar he got from Buddy. “Over to Pluto I might say” Arnie says while Grandpa grumbles. “Say Arnie is this place always packed like tonight?” Ryu tries to break the ice on two people he just met. “Ogies is the best joint in this city, everyone knows that” Grandpa says while ordering drinks. “By the way, Ryu right? My names is Blake Usher, most people call me Arnie. He’s Sylvester Triviani, and you might already know why people call him grandpa” “Hey! Having gray hair looks cool, I bet it’ll be a fashion on next year” Grandpa protests. “So tell me how you get that Romero thing” “It’s Romeo like Alpha Romeo, got it? And yes I love fast cars, Grannie” Artie says. “I think this will be a start of a great relationship. Cheers” Arnie smiles. “Salute!” four of them raise their glasses. “Holy mother of……what’s this thing?” Ryu face turns red. “It’s the best whisky in town. Nothing compares to it. Why? You don’t drink booze?” Arnie looks confused. “No….” “Get used to it, Ryu. You’ll love the stuff” Romeo pours another shot into their glasses. “I don’t know about that but I don’t think I can take another of that.” “What you want then?” “orange juice?” “Oooooookay!” Grandpa signs to the waiter. Soon after they involve in some conversations. Ryu learns that Arnie & Grandpa used to work for Snappish and just transferred into Buddy’s a while ago. “Who’s this Snappish guy?” Ryu thinks while Arnie boast his vault cracking days and Grandpa argues some electronic stuff with Artie. “You see? Adding charged capacitors and several microprocessors can improve its injection. You can get more…” “Oh yeah? How come the factory specs never says so?” “Factory specs? And you believe them? Yea right!” Artie looks astonished with Grandpa knowledge. “Artie, we’ve gotta go. It’s late now.” Ryu breaks into their conversation. “Now? It’s still early, it’s only………holy sh……” Romeo almost jumps from the couch. “Well it’s been fun knowing you all………” “C’mon we give you a ride home” Grandpa pats Artie shoulder as if they have known each other for a long time. “Don’t say no. It’s Buddy’s order” Arnie adds.

Chapter 2: Ascension

“Where am I?” Ryu looks around, but he only sees dimmed lights and darkness seems ready to swallow him. He followed the light path. The path climbs that he feels like he’s climbing a mountain. Suddenly he sees a bright light in front of him, he rushes into the light. Ryu’s heart like stopped that moment, there’s excitement and fear mixed altogether inside him. He feels his body trembles; all his joints are num. A shiny black dragon arise in front of Ryu, Ryu never sees a real dragon the only dragon he know are from stories and books. In front of the dragon there’s a sword, its hilt got a dragons head engraftment an all in dark blue color. The black dragon nods toward Ryu and inside his mind he feels like the creature talks to him, “Young Masterson, the time shall come for you to fulfill your destiny. Ryu, who still can believe his eyes and what he hears, thinks the dragon try to attack him yet he can’t move a muscle to dodge the dragon. However the dragon disappear into his body.
