Anyway, always remember that those blokes in big furry hats are never allowed to move! The ones on the streets are just taking the piss, but the ones actually behind the Buckingham Palace fence are under legal bonds to stay still, for the rest of their lives. When they faint, or die of sleep deprivation, MI5 come out of teh sky and up from the sewers and drag him into the shadows...

Enjoy you holiday Flibble, although I think London is the kind of place you return from more exhausted than you were before you leftposted by Flibble
Yes, that's right fellow SYMians! I'm off to see what the other side of the planet looks like!
3 weeks without work! Bliss!!!
I'll pass by London in about 3 weeks, so maybe we'll be at Heathrow or Gatwick at the same time
Being familiar with all three places, I'd choose NZ for a walking tour. The scenery is outstanding, there's no competition on this planet.Originally posted by fable
My wife and I are thinking of taking a walking tour of NZ in two or three years--that is, if we don't end up hitting some small part of Scandanavia or the Netherlands, instead.

Thanks guys and gals!
I'm not leaving 'til saturday, but the tickets arrived yesterday so I was just a bit excited!
Probably won't have time to catch any of you pommie chaps this time around, got a rather busy schedule of touristy things planned. Although on Frogus' recommendation I might have a small window that used to be filled with a ferris wheel.
Anyways, if you spot a 25yr old kiwi guy looking really lost, that's probably me!

Dottie, you're a horrible city boy, Sweden is still full of deep forests, just not close to where we live. I have relatives in northern Sweden, there's a lot of forests there, and forest-clad hills.Originally posted by Dottie

@Flibblo: So what are your plans for London? Are you spending all the time in London, or do you plan to travel around? Is it your first time in Europe?

This is my first trip to Europe. I'm staying with my sister, who's een there for about 2 1/2 years. We've got a few things planned that I've been told about, such as a four day trip to Rome, but for the most part I'm being kept in the dark about it! Should make for an interesting holiday!Originally posted by C Elegans

I know there are "forests" but are there forests? You know those beautifull areas who actually looks like nature... I thought almost all of swedens forests was used for forestry these days.Originally posted by C Elegans

I would suggest that you bring an umbrella if only to beat off all the tourist-haters (and there are many).

@Dottie: You find large forests in Hälsningland, Värmland, Dalarna...not all areas are used for forestry, and some areas are protected. When I was a kid, I used to walk in the fairy-tale forests in Hälsingland with my grandfather, he was the son of the farmer and born in the area.

The latter We're from the same city, and I rather like it here - it's not too bad anyway, but there's a flagrant lack of forest here
Who, me?!?
@CE: Bah, its too much spruce (correct word?) in swedish forests anyway. hmpf.
@Georgi: Yes, I've always thought it would be best to build great subterranean citys below the forests. You would get the best of two worlds...
