Okay, while at work trying to figure out my next BG2 party (these things take time, if I don't get it 'just right' I won't play BG2) , I ran across a link from Buck about EverQuest II.
I thought 'Oh, it'll be the same power gaming sillyness that drove me from the first EQ'. But, on seeing the screenshots of the neat clothing that women gets to wear I was almost sold. I then visited the main site:
It seems like the game itself is going to be very different from the original. More emphasis on roleplaying, more character control, even the ability to play a non-combat class. That seems pretty interesting as it also enables the more 'casual' role player to keep up.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? If you don't, feel free to say 'Hello' so my thread is not postless and unwanted.
There happy? Also is everquest the game produced by sony which is all based on line?

Yes, but I will only be REALLY happy hugging you. *hug*
Yes it is a multiplayer game online This is not a continuation of EQ, you cannot transfer your characters etc... This is supposed to come out 'Fourth Quarter of 2003'. Now, I've yet to figure out what that means. Either it means the fourth month or it's some mystical connection with the quarters of the moon. Those computer programmers and their concept of time
Bah. There were more than 3,000 different clothing items in DragonRealms a couple of years ago--I suspect this figure has gone up, since then. And you could easily play a non-combat class in it, too. The game had Healers and Traders, and a very nice little economic system.
Of course, the only visual was text. But text is the *best* visual! You can do any effect with it!

Hi Viv *hug*. My internet service has never been good enough to play online , so I'll have to take your word for it.

Yes, and utterly bore today’s attention deficit youth to death.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Is that a Mudd or Mush? I know I'm spelling at least one of those wrong After I put EQ aside because it was so time consuming, I tried to go to a text game, but I could'nt 'get into' it as well. I only played for a few hours.
This is not to say I did not enjoy it, but perhaps would have enjoyed it more if I had talked to people
Ode:
This is coming out sometime next year, you can get a good enough connection by then!
Yes, it is a nice avatar, but I don't think you're personality is like Odie's

Damn, if only I'd known that years ago! At least I would've got some sympathy.

So basically they mean October, November or December for release? I'll doubt I'll play it, I don't want to pay subscriptions...

Edit@Viv: Ode drools a lot, see the connection?
What put me off was not the people, I met many nice people It was that people power gamed and I didn't have time to and didn't care about leveling up. I was happy running around, picking flowers, didn't care about beating on skeletons.
Oh, though when I joined the 'pvp' (player versus player) I got a a taste of 'mean people killing Viv'...*shudders at the memory*
Rofl!! I take it Ode is still watching you from afar?
@Viv-I doubt I'll be getting a better connection anytime soon, the phone lines are terrible over here.
I'm not like Odie huh? Is that a good thing or a bad thing, and what am I like?
@Georgi-As I said before, I only drool because you're so delectable oh mistress mine.

@Odie but drool is drool, whichever way you look at it
@Viv-Afar is the safest way to be with our Georgeous. Not so much fun though.

*hug* Thanks! Yes, for the fun of it I joined a 'pvp' server. (My primary EQ experience was non-pvp).
One memory: I was a wood elf druid and teleported in near the Butcher Block mountains, on the way home I stopped to give this little low level gnome a 'sow' (basically a 'haste' spell) and suddenly started getting hit by this crowd of human men. They had followed me all the way from the teleportation spot to kill me. I didn't even try to fight them....what kind of people would gang bang a harmless druid just doing her thing?
But, again, that is in pvp so it's to be expected.
My experience with the non-pvp was positive, my guild was very into roleplaying and helping people out...but I didn't like going into dungeons and waiting to kill things...gets old after awhile.

It's neither, the code is unique, and far more developed than any MUD or MUSH code I've seen. There's a lot more that can be done--gods, they had close to 200 player-usable verbs, the last time I looked in DragonRealms. Guess you'd call it an uber-MUD.

Yep! Used to be $10/month, though that was 2 years ago. Not sure what it is, now. They also had a "first month free" deal at times.

You get a 30 day free trial, it's then $12.95 a month. They also do other games like Hercules and Xena parodies which look entertaining. I might consider joining it. Is it worth it Fable?
