Multiplayer MSN - please help

I wanted to go on a multiplayer session of BG2 with a friend. I used the option in MSN-messenger, but after a short time in the main screen we see each other dropping from the session while we did not. What am I doing wrong and how can we play a multiplayer-game BG2 using the internet?

Are your game installations identical? ie same patches etc. Game incompatibility will cause drop out. You could also try http://www.gamespy.com Download their freeware (the 'lite' version). The subscription fee mentioned is only if you wish member priviledges, such as no adverts. The software needed to play online multiplayer is still free
