Minority Report

Post by Weasel »

Has anyone saw this movie? Or read the book?

Seeing the crime (and stopping it) before it happens ;) I like the idea.

Its not out in Australia yet, but from the trailers I seen. And the fact that Speilberg is at the helm, or well to my knowledge he is. I can't wait for it to come out. ;)

I believe it just now hit the screens in the US. (I believe your right, Speilberg). From the trailers, I'm thinking if there is a book, I will get it.

despise tom cruise...such a miserable actor...i have never seen him do a single different character, he is always the same person in every role. just garbage. i am sorry to say that there is no way i will see this movie till it comes on HBO.
I would be a serial killer if i didn't have such a strong distaste for manual labor

@ Weasel

Hmmm, is it like wine where it gets better with age. Some how I doubt it. :D

EDIT-

@ nael

The thought had cross my mind before. Damn stereotypes, but the plot seems completely different from anything thats on at the moment.

Why did you not just wait for me, the biggest Spielberg fan round these parts?

The honorable Steven Spielberg is directing the movie Minority Report, based on the novel by Philip K. D-ick.
D-ick, Who past away in 1982, has given the world a number of ground breaking books, out of them 3 have been adapted to successful movies, 2 of which have achieved a certain cult status.
His novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' was adapted to the screen to become Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner'.
His short story 'We Can Remember It For You Wholesale' was adapted to become Paul Verhoeven's 'Total Recall'.

The movie is only coming out on June 20th in australia, June 21st in the US and July 5th in the UK.

It has Tom Cruise in the lead, which, despite my dislike for him, I'm happy for, since this will guarentee a success for Spielberg after last year's failure of 'A.I.".
It costars Max von Sydow, best known for his role as Father Lankester Merrin in 'The Exorcist', and Colin Farrel, a rising Irish actor, who has recently been in Joel Schumacher's 'Tigerland' 'Hart's War', and next year's 'Daredevil'. Also costaring is Jessica Capshaw, Spielberg's stepdaughter.

Spielberg is using his oscar winning combination of cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, Editor Micheal Kahn, sound designer Gary Rydstrom and, of course, composer John williams.

I am hoping, and expecting it to be at least very good, as the five names in the last paragraph have made some of the best movies ever and their touch makes any movie at least a tiny bit better.

I'm trying to read all the books I'm planning to see movies of this year. Behind me- 'Sum of All fears' and 'Catch me if you can'- Spielbergs next movie, coming out in November. In the middle of- 'Gangs of New York', Martin Scorsese's huge period piece, coming out in November. Next is 'Minority Report', and when I'm closer to the date, reread LoTR TTT.

That's hardly a recommendation :D

Well, in that post I wrote only good.
Personaly, I hated Total Recall, thought it was a bad movie with a stupid idea and very bad acting by Arnie and Stone.

As for the second comment  , it's otherwise called being connected, so don't go using big words to make it sound more grave than it really is! :p

Ok, you go see it and see if she is actually good... or whether she was cast simply because she's related to the director :p  ;)
