Celebrating Tinuveille´s birthday, the three of you are enjoying a nice beer in The Drunken Dragon Inn in Silverymoon.

On the inn´s stage a local bard is performing. The songs are so awful that you don´t want to listen to them, but they are so bad that you are can´t stop listening to them. Entertainment in it´s worst form. Peasants playing cards, women looking for their husband and adventurers complete the scene. Right next to you are some rangers bragging about perilous adventures they made. Beholders and dragons were only common encounters to them. It´s quite entertaining listening to this boasting.

The inn is very crowded, but it´s cosy. However beer and the rising temperature in the inn are a hotbed for aggression and suddenly one of the rangers is drawing his dagger and starts swearing. Then he charges at Tinuveille. ´Where is my money! You stole my pouch! You were looking at it all the time and now it´s gone. Give me my pouch back or suffer the consequences, rogue!´
´I was just listening to your stories. And I never even glimpsed at your pouch, so back off! It´s my birthday and I just want to drink a beer or two with my friends.´
But the ranger is furious at Tinuveille and attempts to stab her. Fortunately he is drunk and he stumbles, almost stabbing himself to death. Laughter rises up from the crowd and everything seems to be solved.

At this very moment the City Guard is entering the scene. Surprisingly they don´t arrest the ranger for attempted manslaughter, but they arrest Tinuveille for thievery instead. To your own astonishment the ranger´s pouch is hanging on Tinuveille´s belt. Tinuveille is being carried away and heading directly for the city prison where she is going to spend the night. At the latest moment, just before leaving the inn along with the Guards Saien spots a man in a black cloak in the darkest corner of the inn, next to the stage where the bard stopped playing. He is sniggering at the sight of Tinuveille being carried away. The halfling´s face is invisible, but the large green ring, shining in the light while he is rubbing his hands, isn´t.

In the middle of the night Tinuveille is trying to catch some sleep, but it´s very difficult after being thrown in jail for doing nothing. On your birthday for crying out loud. Suddenly the door of the corridor is opened and footsteps are coming towards you. A small dwarf, apparently a warden, stops right in front of you.

´Do you want to be free?´, he askes.
´Why…what….how?´, Tinuveille doesn´t know what to say.
´It´s a simple question´, says the dwarf, ´do you want to be free? Yes or no?´
´Yes.´
´Then do as I say. After I open your cel, knock me unconscious. Head immediately for The Cold Wood northeast of Silverymoon. Look for an orc called Zerk. He has raped my wife and is never caught for that crime. I want you to kill him. Do we have a deal?´
After some hesitation Tinuveille agrees and your door is opened. At the moment you want to hit the warden he is shot by an arrow. His heart is pierced. Tinuveille looks at the door of the corridor, which is about to be closed. A halfling in a black cloak is sneaking out of the prison.

For a moment Tinuveille is stunned, but she recovers her wits. If she stays here they will think she killed the warden in an attempt to escape. Tinuveille runs towards the direction from which just a few seconds ago the arrow was fired, leaving the corrupt but poor warden behind.

When Tinuveille exits the prison she runs into her two friends who just left the City Hall after making a statement. There is no time for chit-chat, as the City Guards spotted the three of you already.

´There she is! Her friends helped her escape! They´ve killed Jirdan! Murderers!´
You flee into an alley, which is smells like a sewer. The alley leads to a small street.
The pale moonlight shone down on our heroes as they raced through the dark and dank alleys of Silverymoon. Wooden ornaments, a loaded crossbow and holy-symbol, jostled at the side of one of these heroes. The earth-tone colors Saien McGerney wore melded with the shadows, but he could not hide from what chased after him and his companions. His wielded his third ornament, a quarter-stave, in both hands.

"What have you gotten us into now, Tin?" he said, casting a glance to the elven huntress that ran the same race as him. Saien was not angry, though perhaps his companions would not have guessed as much. Nevertheless, his demeanor was a far cry from the joking manner he typically displayed. Those guards had cried "murder," and they seemed ready to put a sword through the trio.

Saien continued, "Do you know a place we can hide-out here in the city? I'll try to lead the guards away while the two of you make for safety, and then meet you as soon as I can."

Tinuveille stood silent, motionless, staring at them with an inquiring look on her face. At once, with a sudden move she wrapped herself in her long mantle as she was trying to hide from an unseen enemy; her hands made a reflex move as she was searching for her knife…

” …A hiding place, yes, I might know “Tinuveille answered swiftly. “If we go west we run into the old city catacombs. They are old ruins now, but we can easily get on the other side of the city. A hidden poor district is there, where the blind men open their eyes and the cripples are jumping on their both feet counting the poor coins after a day of begging… no rule to enslave the outlaw, no law to govern, no edict to rein the starving crowd. On the crossroads is an abandoned old house, a wreck were even the poorest creature refuses to find shelter. We will wait for thee there.”

"Alright, but Saien, take care of yourself", said Li in his usual carefree manner. He looked at Tin and said "you lead the way, im still getting lost in this place."

Saien continued, "Get out of sight, and stay that way until I've led the guards away. And keep your eyes open. Someone is obviously working against us." He began to move away, then gave one last warning, "And if you come across any of the militia, try not to kill them. We're already in enough trouble as it is."

Saien then moved across the street, waiting for the guards to appear.
"There he is! After him, his friends can't be far!", commanded the chief of the Guards. Three Guards obeyed an they were chasing Saien as quick as their armor allowed them to.

In the mean time, Tinuveille and Li were heading for the old city catacombes. With just two blocks to go they walked into a city patrol. They weren't spotted yet, but they would be soon enough, since they full moon provided enough light and shadows were scarce. At that time, a door from the left of our heroes was opened and a small dwarf looked at them. With some gestures he made clear that they could come in and also to keep quiete.

Li was digging in his memory for he was sure to know the little man. But he couldn't figure out who it was right now.
He looked at Tin and said "Should we follow him, because I don't know, the dwarf seems familiar, but I can't place him. I have made several enemies and this could be one of them. Then again, maybe he really is a friend, and I am just overly suspicious. I think it's up to you."

From now on, new parts of the story will be posted in new posts. So please read on...there´s more

Tinuveille hesitated for a while and since they had to move quick, Li decide to take the initiative. He entered the house and Tinuveille followed him.

As the two men entered his house, there were some things Ambron needed to clear up. After a long look at both men Ambron turned around and walked over to his chair in front of the fireplace. He sat down and started talking.

“Listen up; you can stay here for now, long enough for you to convince me not to turn you over to the authorities. If I believe you were indeed framed, perhaps I will even help you.”

Li watched the Dwarf as he walked over to his chair and sat down. There was something about him he just couldn’t put his finger on.

“How do you know what happened to us tonight?”

“Simple Li. I’ve followed you after the incident in The Drunken Dragon Inn. Though I didn’t exactly see what happened, something tells me not all is what it seems. But if you weren’t there with them, perhaps I would not have interfered.”

“How do you know my name, have we met before?” Li wanted to walk over to the fireplace to get a proper look at the Dwarfs face. But before he got close enough, Ambron told he to stay put.

“Later, first tell me your side of the story.”
And so they did, Tinuveille reluctantly told him what happened, for it is no secret Dwarfs and Elves don’t really get along. Li stood there silently wondering who this Dwarf was and why he wanted to keep his identity a secret.

“Alright, I believe you… for now."
Ambron stood up from his chair and grabbed a long black bluish robe that covered his face with darkness.
“I will keep my identity to myself for now, but fear not I will help you.”
He opened a wooden cupboard and grabbed out a crystal glass bottle with a fiery red liquid in it. He poured three crystal glasses and gave two of them to his guests.

“Be careful with those glasses, their about the
only thing in here of value.”
He raised his own glass and drank.
“And enjoy, this is good stuff. We’ll go meet with your friend in a few hours, when things calm down.”

Saien got tired and a bit depressed by the fact that this Guards were in excellent shape. Although they wore armor, it seemed they were about to catch up with the Rogue.

Suddenly Saien took a short, but explosive sprint, to stop again after 100 yards or so. He raised his hands to the shining moon, made some gestures accompanied with draconic words. A bright, transparent, blue light came from Saien and his face seememd to clear up.

The Guards were only a few yards out of range, when Saien started to sprint again. Sprint at an amazing speed. The Guards were astonished they were outrun by the man who seemed out of air just a few seconds ago.

Then Saien ran into an alley with a dead end. The Guards were sure they would arrest the annoying Rogue now.
But then, Saien, with a short run-up, jumped over the wall and out a range of the City Guards.

Saien let out a brief sigh of relief as the hut Tinuvielle had described came into a view. Only a brief sigh, however, as the silence pressed in on him. The catacombs surrounding him were dark, and no one was in sight, but the many narrow passages jetting off into the unknown felt as if a thousand eyes were looking back at Saien. He shook off the feeling, and crept forward towards the hut, prepared for anything.

Upon entering the hut, the silence seemed more indigenous to the area. No one was there. He quickly turned back towards the surrounding catacombes, suspecting an ambush at any moment. If anything was out there, he certainly wasn't going to go hunting. Shutting the door, he retreated into the shelter. Perhaps he could find some sign that Tin and Li had been there. He quietly worded a prayer for them, that Selune would keep them safe on this fleeting night.

Searching the cabin Saien founded nothing more then some old clothes and shoes. There was no sign of Li and Tinuveille, no left letters or marks.

A little disappointed and wandering whether this was the right cabin, Saien sat down and faced the door, his crossbow drawn incase of intrusion, waiting for Tin and Li's arrival. Several hours passed.

Saien is getting worried by the ongoing absence of his friends. He has waited for quite sometime, and believes if they were to come, they would have arrived by now. Knowing it is not a good idea to go back towards the jail, he has an idea.

Before departing, he draws his dagger and carves a single "S" into a wall of the hut. Underneath he draws an arrow pointing further into the catacombs, followed by the current hour A.M., which he guesses. His diagram is scrawled just within the doorway, so anyone can see it as they first enter the cabin. His message completed, Saien sighs with exhaustion as he heaves his pack onto his shoulders. He departs the cabin, shutting the door behind him and heads off in search of the beggar city Tin had mentioned. Maybe he would find some answers there.

Ambron’s two guests got tired of waiting and wanted to go and meet with Saien. So, the group took of, using the darkness to hide themselves from the city guards; who were still searching for the fugitive murderer and her friends. Luckily, it was still dark so they avoided detection fairly easily.

Moving from one shadow to another, the group made their way through the city. Finally, they reached the city limits and entered the old catacombs. “Do ye think this is the ol’ dumb Saien would go to?" Ambron pointed towards an old house that could fall apart any moment.

"Yah, this is the place I mentioned to him" Tinuveille said . He was ready, but when they entered nobody was there. Suddenly Tinuvelle noticed a small bit of righting. "It looks like Saien has been here a gone Tin", said Li. What is our next move was the question on everyone's mind.

“Looks like your friend took of.” Ambron mumbled something about Humans and their lack of patience. “I’m not staying here any longer. Let’s find yer friend quickly. He should be out alone now…”

After these words he grabbed his staff, which he had left by a tree, and started walking in the direction of the arrow. “If you two stop waiting yer time, we might find him in time!”

“No wonder them humans don’t get old, always running of instead of just taking their time…

When Saien arrived at "Beggar's City" it was already dawn.

From the first moment Saien let his eye on the beggar city, he knew what Tin had been talking about.
No one seemed to have any kind of a handicap. Everyone was happy and dancing or drinking, or doing both at the same time. A great fire lit up the sky and there seemed to be a party going on.

On a chair, right by the fire, Saien noticed a few men playing cards and one of them was the guy Saien gave a coin to this afternoon because he claimed to be blind.

Although it looked like one close family no one really took notice of the stranger and his huge shadow that was cause by the fire and that he was dragging with him.

Saien shuffled through the beggars, his eyes feeling leaden due to exhaustion, yet he kept his wits about him, or at least attempted to. He knew his purse might be snatched away if he took his mind off his surroundings. Seeing a man playing cards, a "blind" beggar Saien had given a coin to today. His eyes seemed fine now.

Saien swaggered up to the fellow, saying, "It seems the coin I gave you today was blessed with Selune's grace, for your vision seems to have improved remarkably! Don't worry, I'm not here to cause trouble. Rather, I had a few questions to ask."

"I could help you", while saying this the beggar makes the well known gesture. He asks for some coins.

Saien hands the beggar two copper pieces, a very small sum. "Perhaps there's more if your 'help' is beneficial. So, have you seen or heard anything of them?"

"Well, I myself haven't seen a thing, but I have heard that young Nito has some valuable information for you.", and he points to a tiny, funny looking fellow who is playing with his friends in front of one of the few real houses in this part of the city.

"May be you'd better talk to him".

"Thanks, cutter." Saien walks away from the beggar, towards the "young Nito." He approaches the odd-looking bloke and inquires, "I hear you have some information for me."

Saien holds back his irritation. He was prepared for this, and hands the boy two coppers he had ready. "As I told the other, if you're 'helpful,' there might be more coin for you."

'After you splitted up, your friends walked into a city guard patrol. They had no way to go, but Ambron, the kind dwarf, helped them out.
I donno where they are now.'

Saien is suprised. Not only by the fact that the boy seems to have followed him and his friends, but also by the knowledge that Nito knows Ambron's name.
