Dwarves not raisable?

Post by Astafas »

Kagain recently got killed and I tried to raise him in a temple. It doesn't work... Unfortunately I got no good last save either - anyone know if it's possible to edit the saved game somehow?

Changed him to human with GateKeeper but it didn't work. Can kill and raise all other NPCs. He also looks all red on the inventory paperdoll. He was killed by the slimes (poisoned) belonging to the crazy mage close to the exit from Nashkell Mines.

Seems kind of odd since Kaigan's constitution is 20. You would think him of all NPC's would be readily ressurectable (word??). Usually when a character cannot be ressurected, they disappear from the icons on the right.

Can it be possible this can of damage coupled with kagain's regeneration that he's not really dead, a bug of some sort.

Well, that could be it perhaps. He certainly acts very dead, though - no breathing, no snoring, dropped all equipement and plenty of other typical dead (in)activities...

Help me Obi Wan Sabre-Soujourner, you are my only hope! (Less I replay, of course... Or maybe the gods want me to drop Kagain? And this was their way of telling me? It sounds perfectly logical, doesn't it? Had no idea they took such an interest in my computer playing - I feel honored!)

This is getting worse and worse... Removed Kagain from the party and then thought to CLUA him in again.

CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Kagain") doesn't work though - isn't this the correct command? I know six letters is the maximum so it should work.

EDIT:

Got it to work, didn't do anything wrong the first time AFAIK. However, after I get Kagain to join again ("Uhh, what kind of shop is this anyway?"...) I cannot save properly. Only get the following message:

An assertion failed in D:\Dev\Baldur\ObjCreature at line number 8497

I find it very hard not to hate this game at the moment...

Head to bioware's website for assertion errors

Do you still have a savegame prior to removing Kagain?
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Sure. The only thing missing is a save game before he gets killed (used quick save and saw no harm in quicksaving again after he'd been killed).

Try doing the following:

Enable Cheats by adding the following line to your baldur.ini file under [Game Options]:

Cheats=1

Save and re-start your game. Bring up the console by pressing CRTL + TAB, and enter the following line:

CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys();

Now, holding your cursor over Kagain's portrait, press CRTL + R. This should raise him with full HP. Hope this helps!

(Note: Cheat keys in BG1 must be re-enabled at the console every time you start another game.)

It didn't work... His portrait got "de-greyed" but he didn't appear, I can't choose him, his inventory is still greyed out and he and his clothes are still bright red. I've given up and will start replay... Thanks for trying, though! :)
