CGI monsters

Post by jessejames »

That arena scene in AOTC had me thinking about all the CGI monsters we've seen since Jurassic Park. I think those JP dinosaurs are still the best yet. Those clone monsters weren't really that realistic for me. Dragonheart was OK I suppose, but again kind of cartoonish.

can anyone think of anymore. Oh and I hated those big fish things in Phantom Menace.

First of all, welcome to SYM!

It wasn't really a monster, but the water tentacle/appendage from The Abyss scores pretty high on the coolness scale.

Also notable was some of the animation in Final Fantasy and the rock troll in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

The troll in Harry Potter was pretty good too. :)

Does the T-1000 count as a monster? That was cool. :D

What about the DnD movie? Oh, wait... you were talking about good animation, my mistake  :D

Well, Final Fantasy was all about the CGI...

I hate CGI, its not properly utilised in many films today. Or its completely overdone. I'm still going to criticise the opening battle from LotR. All those extras looked like rag dolls being knocked around, as some one stated somewhere.

However as Georgi stated the T-1000 looked cool. Hopefully the villian for T3 looks a lot better.

The new terminator (the T-X) is going to be played by Kristanna Loken, so of course it will look better.

I think JP has been the only succesful attempt to make the things seem realistic. In other places the creatures looked great, but not real.

Claire Danes got the role, because Loken looked too young, apparently.

Can't think of a worser way to get kicked out of a potential blockbuster.

how about because 'you're not a good enough actor for a mainstream hollywood film'?
