To become a Mod? (Spammable)

Post by Stilgar »

Just curios(sp?) how did the mod's became mod's?
Are they born like that, or did Buck ask them or did they ask Buck.

Not that I want to become a mod, I was just wondering.

We actually had a ballot of sorts to vote in the (at that time) new moderators, it was decided that me & T' would be mods and Fable was added later.

We had to ask Buck and then the choice was made on which forum we were moderators of, SYM was the only forum that was voted for :)

Curious is the correct spelling. I think there's something about how mods are chosen in the FAQ.

I do not want to be a mod, I'm quite happy as an exalted member and the temptation to cause mischief on the boards with the powers that the mods have would be too hard to resist.

What's the @gamebanshee.com account like @ Mr. Sleep?

There was a discussion about who would become Mods, and as Mr Sleep said, there was a sort of vote thing as well. See this thread if you want to read up on it - this was for the Mods of the other forums mainly, I think there was a separate discussion for the SYM Mods.

Thanks, so it was bassicly on a democratic basasis.
Why was no one picked for the BG1 forum? There's still alot going on in there, more then in the IWD forum.

And before I forget, Xandax good luck next month when NWN comes out (the PC-gamepay has posted a review and they say it's gonna be released the 21 of june)

Buck hired a group of augurs who studied the entrails of several economists. They universally declared that the times were frought with peril, and the only way the human race would survive was if Bertrand Russell was made a moderator of the forum.

However, as Russell was dead and nobody in particular really cared about the fate of the human race, T'lainya, Sleep and myself were hired by Buck in his place. :)

Actually, Beldin, Eerhardt and I have a monopoly on purple beer. The mods are of course as welcome to partake as any other SYMian.

And WHY would one aspire to become a Mod ?

Definition:
People often disagree about what the word "Mod" means. Sure it could be short for "modern" and thereby apply to whatever the latest trend is. (Taken from :The Mod Top 10 )

No worries,

"They're only kobolds!"
So he kills kittens? Nothing to fear about that. (CM about Foul on SYM)
"Hey Beldin ! I don't like your face !"
"Nevermore."

So with the conversion, that's about 90 SPAMBILLS?

At least they're all those neat coloured bills and coins with birds on them . . .

That's a real historical gem there @Sabre :) . That was about when I joined, I must have just caught the beginning of the moderators appearance.

In hindsight it's actually pretty funny.
