About the EU...
The only authors I like are Timothy Zahn (the
Thrawn series) and Michael A. Stackpole (
Rogue Squadron and
I, Jedi). Vector Prime was good too.
About the movie... (MASSIVE MOVIE SPOILERS!!!!!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!!!!!!!!)
I really didn't like it.

Alot of it was good, and it had the right ingrediants, but with a different director, it could have been
so much better. I feel that George Lucas is
not a very good director. He refused to use the whole story line with the whole EU (about the references to the clone wars and such, and with Boba Fett's storyline). Also, he is good at technical stuff and at the battle scenes. But as a full director... is was bad.
Alot of the dialogue didn't make sense, and there was also too much of it. Palpatine: "I take on this position with great reluctence, and my first move will be to create an army!".

Also, if Anikin missed his mother so much, why didn't he ever visit her for ten years? Why didn't he go back before? The middle hour was really tedious, being almost all dialogue.
Now, it had its good points, like Yoda. Also, with the clones at the end with Palpatine over seing them, with the Imperial March playing in the background... that was really good. The fight scenes were good, except for the fact that the Jedi were
a lot weaker then I thought they would be.
Now, I've been a Star Wars fan all my life, but I was fairly disappointed in this movie.

If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.
