Justifying fighting games...(Spam almost essential)

Has anyone else noticed how fighting games (Street Fighter series, Mortal Kombat series, etc. etc.) always seem to have either really bad storylines, or else just don't bother justifying whythis particular bunch of muscle-minded tank brains have decided to beat the seven shades of sushi out of each other? This got me to thinking, and eventually led to the idea of attempting to create a SYM beat 'em up plot, preferably either as credible or as strange as possible.

So let's hear your ideas.

They have storylines?!

IMO you have answered your own question there. If those types of games had to justify themselves, they would never exist.

I think if you tried to do this on SYM there would just be a lot of grunting and posing.

Look if i can beat up a bunch of people to let out frustration i don't care about no story line. Heck if they had a story line, nobody would care. The aim is to beat up the other guy.

Mortal Kombat DOES have a storyline, and a pretty good one too. As you perhaps can tell, I'm a fan of the MK series. They created a small universe for the MK storyline. There are even 3 movies and a "Xena like" series made based on MK.

I only saw only one , and it sucked even more then streetfighter the movie!!

And I never realy understood the hype about the games in that genre

Even though i am a male chauvinist i refuse to fight women. They are so weak and fraile, wouldn't want to hurt them!

So my character would be a macho arab in a typical arab dress, which is 250% darkflame proof (this darkflame thing is like getting to be an obsession

)

My motive would to gain power by defeating the arch villian, control whatever he/she controls and then use it to destory the darkflames. all for the good of humanity of course!

My motive would be to overthrow this archaic world society and install a new woman dominated hierarchy. Men will now exist as loincloth wearing pleasure slaves.

Ooh yes, and clothing in the southern areas will be completely forbidden.

To reach this goal, Viv will use any means necessary...or just buy off the judges.
