well Ysh, keep hankering on your new providers. ADSL is rough to get going but once it is up, it is pretty solid. Conceptually, it is a great idea. It took me a while to get mine going. Granted, there were errors on both ends. stick with it. good luck. :)

Considering that the AOL system automatically scans your emails and any sites you visit and notifies the authorities if they have any reference to anything illegal or even 'immoral' (a site on how to make explosives, mention of drugs or sex in an email, etc), and yet they somehow neglect to mention it to their customers, I would avoid AOL simply on moral grounds. This invasion of privacy is justified by AOL under the rationale that they are a "family" ISP, and hence it is their responsibility to spy on you.

@Ode, my dial up is AOL and I have been with them for four years. My ADSL (curiously back online today) is Pipex :) . So what do you have to hide from AOL then? :D I was not aware that they scanned, but I haven't yet been visited by the authorities ;) What I do miss of AOL, I must say, is the different sign ons it allows you - and their parental controls feature. I am yet to work out with my new provider how my six year old can safely surf the net without limiting the adults in the house...with only one sign on it appears that the limitations have to be done through Internet Explorer, and apply to anyone who uses the account.

I could tell you, but then I'd be forced to kill you. ;)

@Ode LOL! :D

@Georgi - so I am finding out :rolleyes: I think it is jealousy that I didn't take their ADSL package - despite all the other business they get from me :rolleyes: :)

No, it's just general incompetence... as my friends who have their ADSL package tell me (and I know their dialup service sucks) ;) One of my friends was talking to a BT operative to set up his ADSL account, and when asked what username he wanted, asked for (name changed here) john_smith. Reasonable enough. When he got his confirmation email, his username was johnunderscoresmith... :rolleyes:
