Got Throne of Baal last weekend - Spoilers

Post by GNGSpam »

I started a new game and got past Goromir and decided that I really really wanted to continue a character from SoA, but I had to reinstall SoA for ToB soooooooooo.......

Anyways I played through SoA, im in chapter 6 and figured id do Watchers Keep after finishing off Bodhi but before Irenicus (and all the elven city jazz)

MAN IS THAT LEVEL 3 A PAIN IN THE ASS. Im desperately trying to do this without hints or walkthroughs (so please no major spoilers) but this is getting semi-ridiculous. All of watchers keep is a maze, but level 3 is a real pain. I have **** for clues on how to do this. Ugh. I HAD planned on doing all of watchers tonight.

Nooooooooooooope.

Dont get me wrong, this is really cool. I can tell they spent a LOT of time on this dungeoun cause its got lots of neato stuff in it. But boy is a big un.

Incidentally though. Im scarred ToB is going to be to easy now. I already know Irenicus is going to be a joke. Im already 3,500,000 avg for my party and I came to watchers only at 2,700,000! At this rate Ill be levels 25 to 28 when I set off for Irenicus! Ill be at 30 when I begin ToB!!!

Oh well, at least I get a whole new story line.

Oh, duh, the poem in the madmans journal.

STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES

Edit - Yeah thats what I want to be caught up in, a blood war, mmm hmmm, gj guys =/

First 2 times I did this fight I got waxed. Then I figured out the secret. The 3 gray thingies and the big demon in the middle. I had the Simulcar (love my spelling dont you?) helmet on korgan. So I doubled him and took myself (Paladin in an evil party, the irony) and rushed the demon in the middle.

Jan casted Animal Summoning, Viconia did a Finger of death on one ugly gray dude, Anomen did an animate dead, and then the secret.

For some reason the first two times I never casted Horrid Wilting. Well this time I did, GEEZ. Ive been caught up playing with my new level 8 and 9 spells I forgot how kick ass Horrid Wilting is. Since its party friendly I just casted it on my 4 spell casters (let the fighters fend for themselves) and it just annihlated everything. Gray dudes, spiders, all the other **** that pops in.

Demon fell quickly, then the Succubis.

What was a tough battle the first two times became easy as pie with a simple change in tactics.

A lesson! ; )

Minor spoiler:

Collect all the handwritten notes in WK, I know they seems to be useful only as a replacement for toilet paper, but I was really happy to find them in the backpack when I discovered their real use.

HAHA! I FOUND MY WAY OUT OF LEVEL 3

Screw Irenicus, Watchers Keep is 10 times tougher =/

So I FINALLY figured out how to navigate through the temple. Then halfway through, what happens? A Succubis offers me the easy way out.

Well hell, im all for taking the easy way out. So I go, and guess what. I STILL NEED THE 3 STONES. I got one before, and one from a Cambion nearby. But the 2nd? Somewhere inbetween.....

So here is my poor pitful self trying to backtrack through this horrible maze im not even sure I have figured out =(

It took me an eternity. The teifling battle was a cinch. Just used up all those damn wands ive been hording. So were all the demon encounters. The sole one I had trouble with was the battle for the second stone. Once again I had to bum rush the head demon guy with my paladin and korgan to keep him from summoning 50 other guys. Horrid Wilting didnt do crap for me this time.

ANYWAYS THE POINT IS THOUGH I FINALLY FOUND MY WAY OUT

And through this all ive had sex with Viconia twice and been insulted in between. Drows are such freaks.

Which reminds me, why do the romances take so freaking long? Ive had Viconia since like day 5 and its taken her 2 freaking months to fall in love. I mean come on I have Charisma 19 with the plate of balduran on! The blood of a god flows threw my veins! Youre telling me my games so bad it takes 2 months to get this drow to stop insulting me? Well, at least we're into happy days now. Its was just funny to hear her say "well you finally woke up" after I exit Watchers to replinish when we "laid down together" about 2 days before when I was entering earlier.

Edit - Bedtime now. I swore id beat level 3 before I went to bed. Actually I originally swore id beat the whole keep before I went to bed. But I quickly downgraded that to just level 3. night

Watcher's Keep is fun; even more of a challenge than Durlag's Tower, which is so trappy. The end boss was quite defeatable, compared with the one you are gonna face in WK.

And in the unlikely event that you feel bored with that, try the improved version after you have defeated it in normal mode.

Wish you luck!

lol irenicus is a joke anyways. i killed him no sweat before i played watchers. I was truly disapointed at the lack of effort i had to use to kick his butt. hit him, kill the slayer in the bottom left, head to bottom right, ray of reversal, boom, its over.
