XP and Leveling

Post by mischiefs_child »

Hiya,
I am havin' some serious problems and Idont know if it because of my lack of ability to play this game, or if I am experiencing some strange sort of bug.

1. I can not been able to acheive character level's higher than
2nd, I cannot get knew spell's or learn knew feats, and stuff
because of this, I have gone all the way to Zol and not gained
enough XP to level, Is this normal??
The only reason I beleive that I reached 2nd is cause the too
elves in the hidden spot give it to you, I dont know. I have
run thru with several different parties, thinking that i just
didn't have the group, but I am having to fight 6d6 creatures
and such at level 2, maybe it is just me, some one have an
idea of how much XP you are supposed to get from various
monsters?

2. I cannot get the new patch to download, anyone know a
mirror site?

I think the graphics and game play are great in PoR, but if the XP
that I am getting from it so-far is the norm, then it truely is impossible to play.

OK,
I guess that I misspelled the leader of the orcs name, but it happens, what is happening, to be more specific:

First thing is that I am standing if front of the door to the mainhalls, I have killed everything there is to kill, as of yet, and I have less than 200 XP, now when I go to the hiding spot that Nottle told me of and speak with the elves, I level, I assume that this is a built in XP booster, but then that is it.

I guess that I should have ask, is the XP you recieve in PoR supposed to be lo low?

I have played several different types of parties with several different types of character, all faring about the same, some have mad it through the Mainhalls all the way to the leader of the orc's Zul,or Zol, or something like that but they are still only 2nd level, others have made it to the east where they start encountering the"scarred mages" and still level 2.
Is this normal or is this a bug? Sorry I wasn't more clear in my first post. and thanks for the help, I am going to File Planet right now for the new patch..

You are OK. You have to kill tons of monsters before you can level up. If you compare points gained to the points needed for the next level in your character screen, you will notice that your points are slowly increasing. And you will be given bigger amounts of points for completion of quests. :)
May you find me worthy of your attention, outlander.

The Orc chief is called Zud :) as for your problem is seems to be alright with the xp since it's hard to get the first few levels and take on the bigs fights there. Maybe you should try with a 2 or 3 members party for start so that you will be able to gain xp faster is you can manage it. With a little luck you can take out Zud when you are only level 2 and returning Deathbane to Beriand with get you a nice amount of xp to advance.
