What games are you playing right now? (Please read the first sentence!)
@Weasel, you are welcome
Soulbringer has a unique and strange filling, i don't know why, maybe for the mystic atmosphere of the whole game.
About Civ3, i like it but i was kind of dissapointed with the technology advances. And no terraforming
, if is wasn't for the new graphics and interface i would say that call for power was better. Anyway i stopped playing it a while ago.

(Thursday Firaxis released a new patch to correct a lot of the bugs)
Soulbringer at the beginning reminds me of BG 1 (the open area's) which was what I liked the most.
"Vile and evil, yes. But, That's Weasel" From BS's book, MD 20/20: Fine Wines of Rocky Flop.
I'm playing bg and totsc, just got it not long ago. Lots of fun.

I own both, and I have to say that find Rogue Spear more stressful. Especially on the Lone Wolf stages. However, thats what I like about those games. Where even the best armour can't stop a round from an assault rifle and its not uncommon to die in the first few seconds from a sniper.Originally posted by Morlock
Max Payne is, IMO, the best shooter out there.
But, unfortunatly for me, I get very claustrefobic (SP) when playing a 3D game in a dark setting. For example, I saw a freind of mine play Metal of honor on the PS, and I was sweating and feeling nausious the whole time.
For me, Rogue Spear will always be the all around best shooter, and the best game based on a book out there.
*Talking about the Chopper rescue stage. Very Black Hawk Downish*
!
Right now I'm playing Dungeon Siege, and Elite Force (never finished it the first time), along with smatterings of Q3 and UT. I started to play Half-Life again, but like the first time I was singularly underwhelmed, and I really can't see why such a fuss has been made about it, why has it been given Game Of The Year awards 2 years after it was released? Sure, it's got nifty set-pieces, looks great for the Quake engine, but as far as gameplay goes it just doesn't do it for me.
On a side note, I used to play Diablo II, a lot, online, and I still have a Battle.Net account(Europe realm) that has a lot of really good equipment and characters on it, so if anyone can offer them a good home, PM me and convince me that you're not just gonna sell them on eBay. Or I will

Although Shiny have been put up for auction by Interplay so as for the Matrix game time will tell, it might be a long time before we see it.....i beat Fable to some gaming Gossip! Hoorah!!!Originally posted by VoodooDali
Sacrifice is a cool game--very underrated. It's not a true RPG, but the graphics are really amazing, and it's fun to play. I was happy when the developers of Sacrifice were given The Matrix to develop. All of you bored SYMers would do well to invest in a copy of it.
I agree about Sacrifice it was fantastic. I also liked the fact that it saved your players spells in a directory and you could import it into multiplayer, a very good idea
@Max Payne, it is fun, but as others have said diminishes fairly quickly, i have completed it on every setting now and it takes no time at all, some of the guns are fun but there is no point doing it over and over again it's just boring after a while.
@Minerva, longest journey is great isn't it
@Kameleon, i agree with your Half Life sentiments. What is Dungeon Seige like?
Games i am playing:
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast - Good game if a little short (ergo took me 2 days
Settlers 4 + Expansion - a very laid back game but immense fun
Return to Castle Wolfenstein - i wanted to recall if it was as bad as it was last time i played it.....it is
Tony Hawks 2 - testing out crappy refurb (ish) machine...it isn't doing well at the mo.

Sorry for Hijacking this thread with Gaming News but i have two articles from the ever entertaining Eurogamer that might be of interest, firstly.
Shiny up for sale
Interplay last night confirmed reports that it is in "the advanced stages of negotiations with a potential buyer of Shiny Entertainment", who are currently working on a game based on the Matrix movies. Interplay are refusing to say who the bidder is and what kind of terms they expect to get from the deal, but given that their latest Annual Report (also released yesterday) admitted that they aren't earning enough money to cover their expenses, and that the product delays which have plagued the company of late could continue in the short term, we imagine that any deal to get rid of Shiny would have to be good news for them at this point.
"Although the transaction is not complete and is subject to definitive agreements and satisfaction of various closing conditions, we envision this initiative as a key element in our future growth plans, providing the potential source of funding as Interplay builds on its leadership position in adventure and role-playing games on the PC and next generation consoles", CEO Herve Caen commented.
And for the second:
The Max Payne movie adaptation continues to gain steam like all the festering manhole covers of the big apple's rotten heart were pumping into its veins. Production company Dimension Films today revealed that they have signed Shawn Ryan (who describes himself as "a writer and a gamer") to pen the movie's script. Ryan is probably best known at the moment as the brains behind popular cable TV cop series The Shield, although he's also worked on Buffy spin-off Angel as a writer and co-producer in recent years. He was said to be "ecstatic" when he was offered the chance to script Max Payne, describing the man himself as "an incredible character with a rabid fan base". That's putting it mildly.

@Sleep, Dungeon Siege is...
1. VERY linear
2. VERY derivative - of Diablo II in particular
3. Somehow still very good, I'm not quite sure how, could well be all the new-and-improved gubbins, like only having to drink as much of a health/mana potion as you need, packmules, no character classes, a good strategy element, etc. I like it, but I can see how people would just think "been there, done that" and not bother. Ned is also a bit of a DS fan too, so you should get his opinion too.

No, I haven't, wasn't it a PlayStation game or something? Or am I thinking of Silent Hill...oh, I think I know Silver - was that the one where you were supposed to be able to do swordfights with your mouse, waving the mouse around to swing the sword?(now there's innovation) No, didn't play itOriginally posted by Mr Sleep
@Kam, have you played Silver, i get the impression it is similar to that.

It was entirely linear, the only thing that marked it out was the fighting method and the cool spells. I actually really enjoyed it and if i could find a way that it didn't keep accessing the CD every few seconds i would play it more.... i have tried everything but there isn't a way... if it is fun it doesn't matter how linear it isOriginally posted by Kameleon

Exactly - that is so true. Although I stopped playing it, Diablo II is still the best game I've ever played. I didn't play to fight monsters - I played for the item gathering, trading and duelling. This was the fun part - quests, killing and levelling were merely steps towards that goal. If you think about it, Diablo II is very linear, it just hides it better than DS does. I haven't played the multiplayer side of DS, mainly because the community is so small currently the game only just being out, so I'm not sure how trading and duelling work, if at all, but the item gathering is quite strong and I much prefer having a party to just the one character.Originally posted by Mr Sleep

@Gaxx
what character are you using in diablo 2? i finished it once as an amazon, but then had to replace the hard-drive, so i'm playing again as the assassin

Currently:
Planescape Torment (first time)-enjoying it immensley* and still exploring the Sigil. I'm a slow player.
IWD-HOW-ToTL-(second time)-different character creation this time so game is progressing faster but still just as fun. Be moving on to Lonelywood shortly.
The Legend of Zelda-Ocarina of Time (5+...lost count) just to ease the tension of everyday life because of its simplicity now.
*gosh that just doesn't look right..oh well

Currently playing BG/TotSC, my second time through (first time I went straight on to BG2 and hadn't been back to BG since)... although I don't have much gaming time at the moment. Also playing BG2 - testing a ToB mod that the guys at IEEAIS are working on. (A little extra publicity never hurts

@Georgi: hey! I'm in BG right now, too!
In Durlag's Tower, and it is kind of dragging, so I just play every so often. Other than that --- uh, school.
@Civ3 Players: How do you like that game? I was a big Civ2 addict, and played it far more than was healthy. I bought Civ3 thinking that it would be better still ... but it really seems to bore me.
It seems slower than Civ2, and I feel a bit more confined by all the extra rules. I thought it would be really cool to have resources and trade, but now I am not so sure.
I should try it again, though. To be honest, I never even fully finished one game (started and stopped in about a half-dozen). Maybe it would help, too, if I kicked up the computer AI a notch.
Still taking it easy on CRPGing in general right now, in anticipation of long hours with NWN.
