Viconia Romance (SPOILER?)
Viconia Romance (SPOILER?)
Hi.
I'm having a romance with Viconia, and I think I might be having a problem.
After the first challenge in the Pocket Plane she talked to me and restarted the romance.
I played through Saradush (killed Gronmir), and then went to the North Forest. Immediately after clearing that area and BEFORE going to the Forest of Mir, I went to Watcher's keep.
After I finished it, I went to continue with the Forest of Mir, which I am about to start.
My problem is that in all this time, I have not had a single romance dialogue with Viconia (after the first).
When Gorion talks to me he does consider Viconia to be my romantic Interest (summons Valas and all...), which I think is a good sign. However, I am still worried about her not talking to me... Is that normal? Could it be a reputation issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't get a romance dialog through all of watcher's keep. You can try pausing the game for about an hour, and see what happens, or you can try to sleep. If I remember right, a few of her dialogs are triggered in ToB by sleeping.

No, Viconia's romance is pretty much event-driven in ToB. If you haven't been getting any dialogs from her, it's because something hasn't happened yet. Go on to the Forest of Mir - you'll see.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Thanks!!!
Another (similar) question...
Viconia's alignment change is suppposed to happen immediately after Yaga Shura's death? I read on a post that the alignment change happens on the first lovetalk after Yaga Shura...
Well, when I killed him, she told me about the carnage I told her it was horrible and "Has killing ever pleased me?" and the like. She told me she had to think about it...
When I went to the Oasis, she talked to me, started talking about changing and then asked me if I would like her to change... I told her that "I would like that" abd she said that she can't...
Is this normal? Does she change in a later dialogue? Or did I mess up (again...)?

Yes, unfortunately you did mess up in one of the dialogs, as this is the dialog where her alignment will change to neutral, if certain conditions are met. The dialog options you must follow in order to get the alignment change are:
Highlight for spoiler:
Highlight for spoiler:
- When she first suggests resuming your physical relationship, you must tell her that the time is not right because you'd be doing it for the wrong reasons or because you want it to be right.
- When she says, "Mmm... what? What is it, jaluk? Why do you persist in glaring at me?!", you must answer, "Don't snap at me...". Allow her to ask you a question, and when she asks, "...What is it you feel... when you kill?...", choose one of the following dialog options:
a) I kill because I have to...
b) I feel awful every time...
c) Part of me enjoys it, perhaps... - When she praises the carnage in Saradush, of course, you must tell her it's horrible and wrong.

OK...
So my problem was the one I originally mentioned, because I have not had these two dialogues you mention at all!!!
Well... back to an earlier save I guess... I will try leaving the game for a couple of hours at "pause" before killing Yaga Shura and see what happens...
Do you know of I way I could ShadowKeep my way out of this?
If I have to backtrack from before even going to the forest of Mir it will be a bit boring. Well. serves me right for trying to romance a drow with a paladin...
If I have to wait just before killing Yaga shura it is not much of a problem though. I'll give it a try.
Thanks for all the help...

What is Viconia's ExpLoveTalk right now?

First of all, go to the Global Variables tab in Shadowkeeper. Four variables tell you the status of the Viconia romance:Originally posted by krindel
OK...
Do you know of I way I could ShadowKeep my way out of this?
CHECKVICONIAMATCH: This is used at the beginning of the game to record whether or not your compatibility with Viconia (due to race and/or sex) has been checked. This should be =1 if you have a romance with Viconia.
VICONIAMATCH: Set as a result of the CHECKVICONIAMATCH test, this =1 if you ARE compatible for a romance with Viconia, and =0 if you aren't.
VICONIAROMANCEACTIVE: This one is key. It can have one of four possible values:
0 = no romance has begun, which can be due to incompatibility (see above), the fact she has not joined your party, or the fact that the game has not yet reached the point where the romance has kicked in.
1 = Romance underway and in its initial stages, i.e. "flirting" stage. At this point, if you have more than one female NPC in your party then you can have any number of romances on the go, provided all are at level 1.
2 = Romance getting serious. Once your romance with one female NPC reaches level 2, she has become your "main squeeze" and all other female NPC romances are set inactive (to level 3 - see below).
3 = Romance over! This is due to your dumping her (bad dialogue choices) or her dumping you (through getting too angry with reputation and leaving, or another romance with a different female NPC reaching level 2).
The other variable that controls the romance you will find under the "Affects" tab in Shadowkeeper (it is a so-called "Local" global variable [?!?] that is stored with an NPC's stats rather than with the game's overall global variables). Look for a value that has the label "LOVETALK".
The LOVETALK variable for Viconia is what tells you how far you have progressed with her romance. Just set the value to 2, load the saved game and sleep on it. The romance will then be back on track.
Hope that helps!
@Baldursgate Fan:
Only rarely should one edit LoveTalk directly, since this can have negative consequences. Also, ToB does not use LoveTalk, it uses another variable, ExpLoveTalk.
@krindel - Judging from your posts, the pause trick will not help. Two of those dialogs I mentioned occur toward the end of the dialog tree - I'm guessing you selected a dialog option which prevented you from ever seeing them, or you didn't rest your party in an area where you could get one of the dialogs.

What you changed was AerieRomanceActive - the romance didn't stall, it was over.Originally posted by Baldursgate Fan

Oh, didn't know that. I changed the global variable from 3 to 2 when my Aerie romance stalled and it worked. Strange.

@krindel
For fun, I typed in the word "Viconia" and that yielded me 76(!) pages of very interesting stuff that you might like to go over. You can find replies from Sabre and Sojourner on this very same topic.
I wish you luck in your love life

Thanks to everybody for the help!!!
You have been really really helpful.
Anyway, now that I knew which dialogues I was supposed to be getting, I went back to a save just before killing Yaga Shura.
The problem was, of course, that I didn't rest. (thanks Sojourner...) After resting, I got the first dialogue, and after that by waiting a bit I got the second one... After that all went well and know she changed her alignment.
From now on I think I will be looking at the variables Baldursgate Fan metioned every once in a while... Just to be on the safe side...
