I never actually DM'd a campaign or took part in a game session until about four years ago when I discovered a group of D&D (actually, Palladium) players on campus. Consequently, I pretty much had to make do with solo adventure gamebooks like Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone's long-running Fighting Fantasy Series, the Grailquest series of gamebooks modelled after Monty Python "Holy Grail," the incredibly linear (and crappy) series of AD&D gamebooks published by TSR, the Lone Wolf series, and another series of gamebooks involving a Ninja/Assassin on a world called Orb (I can't remember the title). The first book I ever actually finished was a 500 page RPG that borrowed heavily on the material I had absorbed. All you needed was two dice, a pencil, and an eraser, and off you go. No elaborate character creation process or combat system got in the way of the adventure. Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody else is familiar with this (unfortunately) now deceased genre of RPGs. It was primarily thanks to these books that I became interested in literature in general, and took the courses that I did in university.

Unless you're talking about those ridiculous "Choose-your-own-adventure" books, then nope. The one I had was about robots fighting dinosaurs or somesuch. I've probably still got it somewhere.
