Kensai/Thief Level to Switch?

Post by Slivers »

I'm just starting out my first game of BG2 and will be trying the Kensai/Thief dual-class character.

I am looking for recommendations for which level I should switch over my Kensai to a Thief? Also, if I some day decide to install and play ToB, does that make a difference to the level I'd want to switch at?

Also, what restrictions for weapons does this combination have? If I wanted to focus on two-handed blunt or slash, would that be an option to this combination?

Thanks for the help.

I'd recomend at lvl 13, because you get an extra 1/2 attack per round. If you add tob, i think 21 or 22 is what you want. You'll be restricted to thief weapons, and the only two handed kinds of those are staffs, and i'd stay away from those, unless you want the cheeseiness of getting mutliple backstabs without hiding :)
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

Because you only have SOA I would recommend that you dual class at level 9. If you have TOB installed (or will get it in the near future) then yes level 13 is what I would choose (I have TOB) If you were to wait that long with only SOA installed you would be most of the way through the game before your Kensai class became active once again. Ultimately it's up to you, but most people around here (from what I've seen) dual at either level 9, 12, or 13 when changing from a fighter, due to the extra attacts and other bonuses that's given at those levels.
